BRIGHTON
Race 2 No8 SANGARA (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: George Bass
SANGARA is worth a market check on a first outing for West and on return from a long lay off. She’s not without ability, a change of scenery may well have done her good and George Bass knows the filly from her days with the Channons.
Race 5 No3 HAVANA MOJITO (Nap)
Trainer: John Gallagher – Jockey: Ashley Lewis
Although proving hard to win with HAVANA MOJITO just needs the rub of the green and it can happen today. He’s grazed the woodwork on his last two outings but handles these undulations and is 2lb below his last winning mark. That’s a big plus at the bottom grade, while the fast ground is what he likes.
PONTEFRACT
Race 1 No2 SUNNY ORANGE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Mr Thomas Easterby
SUNNY ORANGE came away with excuses when meeting traffic as he made a late charge at Beverley last time. It was a good effort and fuels belief that he can have the measure of STAR START, with whom is he closely handicapped.
Race 3 No6 SOAMES FORSYTE (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Dylan Hogan
SOAMES FORSYTE brings good AW form to the table from earlier in the year but in recent races on turf has been let down by slow starts. If he can get that monkey off his back he has a good earning chance in a weak affair.
Race 4 No1 BETWEENTHESTICKS (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: James Sullivan
There’s plenty to like about BETWEENTHESTICKS, who from a favourable draw can repeat his 2025 triumph in this race. The top weight is a tad higher in the weights after winning on two of seven outings this season, but granted his overall very good record at this course rates the one to beat.
YARMOUTH
Race 2 No10 SPEED OF SOUND (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Spencer – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
This is a fine opportunity for SPEED OF SOUND to get off the mark. The Sioux National filly brings easily the best form to the table having earned on each of her two outings, latterly when chasing home a well supported Godolphin filly at Ascot. Any price north of evens would appear generous.
Race 5 No5 REGALLY BLONDE (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
Osborne’s presence on REGALLY BLONDE could provide the mare with the X-factor required to make it a first success of the season. The selection beat only one home at Nottingham last time but should appreciate a return to this course where on her only previous visit she troubled the judge.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No7 MONTALBANO (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Any support for MONTALBANO could be worth heeding in this second leg of the 1400 metres novice. The Saxon Warrior colt can earn in a race where newcomers are probably going to dominate, with FULCRUM another to take seriously if he can overcome an outside draw.
Race 4 No2 GAVRIEL (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Rab Havlin
GAVRIEL makes considerable appeal returning to the scene of his memorable success over 1600 metres here a year ago. The Frankel colt had a mountain to climb when four lengths adrift of a posse of leaders 300 metres out but devoured the ground to get up in the final stride to pip National History as the principals pulled well clear of toiling rivals. The Nap will need every yard of the trip tonight but is a very decent prospect who can shrug off his penalty and triumph in the best race of the day.
Race 6 No4 ATLAS MOUNTAIN
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Jack Mitchell
ATLAS MOUNTAIN has shaped like a stayer in back-to-back earning efforts at Nottingham and Windsor. He tried to boss his latest race and to his credit fought back well when headed by the smart Cockade. Furthermore he didn’t have much racing room when the second home went across him a furlong out and had to be switched, making the run appear less creditable than it was. The key to success tonight is the 600 metres longer trip which will bring his stamina into play.
