PLUMPTON

Race 2 No1 BOLD STEP
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

BOLD STEP finished second at Hexham on his debut under Rules in a race that’s worked out. He’s done well for his summer break and is ready for this clash with LE COLD GREY.

Race 4 No13 LET HIM B
Trainer: Charles Byrnes – Jockey: Philip Byrnes

This looks a competitive handicap hurdle at first sight but LET HIM B has to be looked at as a potential winner granted how impressive he was at Cork last month. A 16lb rise for the success is substantial in anyone’s book, but visitors from this stable have to be taken seriously and he can follow-up.

Race 6 No5 BIRTHDAY ANGEL (Nap)
Trainer: Lydia Richards – Jockey: Rex Dingle

Locally based Richards has found a flagship horse in BIRTHDAY ANGEL who discovered a rich vein of form at this time last year and is repeating it. Following his successful return to hurdles at Fontwell the dual purpose performer can defy a 7lb weights rise.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No5 GLENGOLLY (Nap)
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan

GLENGOLLY is a bet I’m looking forward to on his return to action in this three mile handicap chase. The seven-year-old signed off last season with a Ffos Las triumph in which the addition of a visor assisted him. He swaps that for a set of cheek pieces today, and if running as well as he’s been working he’ll go close.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 6 No6 ARCHER’S GRACE (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

ARCHER’S GRACE has delivered on both sand and turf during a bountiful season and on the reopening of this track can prove the best bet on the card. The Magna Grecia filly troubled the judge on each of her other three career starts, and there should be more to come from her.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No6 CHANTELLE (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

Prescott saw Tiffany put in a solid display to finish fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf and CHANTELLE can match that at this much lower levels in the same Elite Racing colours. The Gleneagles filly is wonderfully consistent, and fancied to gain a first success of the year following three near misses on the AW.

Race 8 No10 TIGER BEETLE
Trainer: T Faulkner – Jockey: Zoe Lewis

TIGER BEETLE came home unchallenged here last month to suggest he has turned a corner, and though the handicapper has had his say the eight-year-old can consolidate. He doesn’t have the best of draws but with his tail up is going to post with confidence behind him.
