LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No1 ROSE COTTON
Trainer: Tom Clover – Jockey: Jack Mitchell
ROSE COTTON has upped her game since running in handicaps with a victory at Wolverhampton. Though turned over as an odds-on shot at the same course last month she is going to greatly appreciate moving up to a mile and a half as she’s by a French Derby winner out of a mare who was a prolific winner over middle distances.
Race 3 No4 GOLDEN BROWN (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark
GOLDEN BROWN ended his 2025 campaign with a second in the Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar. A repetition of that effort at Listed level would see him make short work of today’s opposition, and he looks the proverbial good thing.
Race 5 No1 ARCHER’S GRACE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
ARCHER’S GRACE ahead run into a couple of decent types in her defeats at Kempton but her liking for the Polytrack surface is there for all to see, and this well related individual now holds the cards.
REDCAR
Race 3 No10 WOODRAFF (Each Way)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: James Sullivan
WOODRAFF is usually ridden with exaggerated waiting tactics and that was the case on his latest start at Thirsk where he arrived on the scene too late to strike a blow. It was however an encouraging return to grass following 14 straight runs at the AW, and he could get this race run to suit.
Race 4 No2 JOLLY ROGER (Nap)
Trainer: Simon Crisford – Jockey: Harry Davies
JOLLY ROGER sets a good standard for his opponents to aim at following a winter campaign in the UAE in which he finished second at Jebel Ali and third in two races at Meydan. He’s straight for this first run back on home soil, one in which he should deliver.
Race 7 No4 LONG SHOT (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
LONG SHOT failed to cut the mustard in four runs as a two-year-old but can do better with a winter behind him in which he’s strengthened up. The addition of Cgeek pieces can also bring about improvement on this second handicap run.
KELSO
Race 2 No4 JEHOL DE THAIX
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
JEHOL DE THAIX looked in trouble before rallying gamely to open his account under Rules at Newcastle on what was only his seventh career outing. He has the scope to progress and make it back-to-back triumphs.
Race 4 No2 ERNE RIVER (Each Way)
Trainer: Nicky Henderson Kent – Jockey: Tom Broughton
Veteran ERNE RIVER shaped as if he still has a tune to play when taking away a minor cheque on his latest outing at Doncaster. Back from a freshening break and now on a good mark with underfoot conditions in his favour he can roll back the years.
NEWCASTLE
Race 4 No3 GOUKEN (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: George Downing
GOUKEN troubled the judge on each of his five starts last year and returns with the benefit of a close season gelding operation. He’s a genuine performer who deserves a change of luck, and it should arrive today.
Race 7 a No3 TRAIS FLUORS (Each Way)
Trainer: Linda Perrett – Jockey: Kaiya Fraser
TRES FLUORS has winning form at Group level in France although plenty of water has flowed through his bridge since then. The 13-race winner didn’t give his best on a recent visit here, but if in the mood could spring a surprise.
