10/06/2022 – Friday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil provides us with his best bets and tips for Friday’s race meetings at Sandown Park, York, Chepstowon, Newton Abbot, Aintree and Goodwood on 10/06/2022.

SANDOWN PARK – 10/06/2022

Race 6 No4 TARTAN CHIEF (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Cieren Fallon

TARTAN CHIEF ended his juvenile campaign with back-to-back nursery successes and now moves up to a mile and a quarter. He can remain unbeaten in handicap company and is one to keep on the right side through the summer.

Race 7 No2 BAROQUE STAR (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Egan

Although she underwhelmed to a certain degree at Haydock, BAROQUE STAR is better than that first run in a handicap indicates. For the second time in as many starts this season she tried to burn off her foes from the front, but although losing her pitch was gaining again at the finish. She’s capable of a better showing on what is an important weekend for her owners.

YORK – 10/06/2022

Race 3 No5 EYE UP IT’S MAGGIE
Trainer: Tony Coyle – Jockey: Kevin Stott

EYE UP IT’S MAGGIE looked for much of her latest start at York as if she would lead from gate to wire, only to get tired in the final 200 yards. She is definitely capable of prevailing off her current mark, and just needs to show that she gets a sixth furlong.

Race 4 No1 ART DU VAL (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

ART DU VAL is a gross individual who probably needs a race or two to put a cutting edge on him. He came from off the pace on both starts at the Dubai Carnival and should now be the complete package, having been selectively campaigned with only a dozen appearances in public in almost four years of being in training.

Race 5 No16 BARNEY’S BAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

I like the look of BARNEY’S BAY from his position at the base of the weights in this seven furlongs handicap, round a gradual bend into the home straight. He has a perfect draw and can build on three defeats from as many outings this season in which he’s attracted support each time.

CHEPSTOW – 10/06/2022

Race 1 No11 BEAU GESTE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Louis Steward

Away from his happy hunting ground of Brighton and on a first visit to this course BEAU GESTE has a good earning opportunity. He troubled the judge with blinkers added at that seaside venue last month and is weighted to get into the shake-up in an open contest.

Race 2 No8 SIR PLATO
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Georgia Dobie

A 4lb penalty for a clear cut course and distance triumph last week should not prevent the eight-year-old backing up that much improved display. The last five of his career wins have happened here, and there might well be more to come.

Race 4 No8 BIBULOUS (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Rob Hornby

BIBULOUS was a bit too free when beaten at odds-on when last seen at Wolverhampton before Christmas. He’s developed into a powerful specimen through the winter, and if running as well as he’s been working will definitely take home a cheque.

Race 6 No1 OUR JESTER
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Louis Steward

The Haydock meeting at which OUR JESTER slipped on the bend and almost came down was abandoned after his race. I have no doubt that without that reverse this very talented individual would have prevailed, and even though opposed by a tough rival in Berkshire Breeze he can make this a first success on the Flat.

NEWTON ABBOT – 10/06/2022

Race 4 No1 SEBASTOPOL (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

SEBASTOPOL is the class element in the night’s feature and should find this tight track very much to his liking. After a rare hurdles run at Haydock he can bounce back to the form that saw him power home over fences at Chepstow in April.

AINTREE – 10/06/2022

Race 4 No4 GO ON CHEZ (Nap)
Trainer: Oliver Greenall – Jockey: Henry Brooke

In what looks to be a match with fellow multiple scorer Gats And Co, GO ON CHEZ can make this an impressive fifth win on the bounce, and remain unbeaten over fences. He’s looked a different horse since undergoing a breathing operation, and probably has more to offer.

Race 6 No1 SIR TIVO
Trainer: Gary Hanmer – Jockey: Sean Bowen

SIR TIVO sulked when unable to get his own way in front at Warwick, but it could be a different story in this field. The eight-year-old has a great chance to make it a seventh win over fences from his last 12 outings.

GOODWOOD – 10/06/2022

Race 1 No7 MISS ATTITUDE (Each Way)

Cityscape filly MISS ATTITUDE has shown hints of ability in her preparation and should give us a good run for our money.
