07/06/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil provides us with his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s race meetings at Brighton, Salisbury, Wetherby and Chelmsford City on 07/06/2022.

BRIGHTON – 07/06/2022

Race 2 No1 BETWEENTHESTICKS (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Darragh Keenan

With course form to bring to the table as well as a massive experience edge, BETWEENTHESTICKS looks a rock solid entity and is napped to open his account. The Captain Gerrard colt breezed beautifully up the West Ilsley all-weather yesterday, and will be very hard to beat.

Race 6 No1 DELAHOUSSAYE
Trainer: Brian O’Rourke – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

Very few have much to recommend then in a weak basement handicap, but DELAHOUSSAYE showed with an improved earning effort at bath last month that he’s ready to belatedly shed his maiden tag. His big move from the rest petered out inside the final furlong, but of waited with longer he should make no mistake.

SALISBURY – 07/06/2022

Race 1 No6 MYSTICAL APPLAUSE
Trainer: Harry Eustace – Jockey: Hayley Turner

Eustace has made a good start to his career and has a good shot at taking out this novice stakes with MYSTICAL APPLAUSE, who shaped with abundant promise to trouble the judge on debut at Leicester. Easy to back that day, the Aclaim colt will encounter softer conditions, but is bred to handle them. If going forward as much as I think he can outpoint Friday Alteady and Zabbie.

Race 3 No3 CABINET OF CLOWNS
Trainer: Eve Johnson Houghton – Jockey: Charles Bishop

CABINET OF CLOWNS has easily the best form on offer after finishing fourth in the warm novice won by Windseeker on debut here, and then chasing home Elsals at Lingfield. The grey is primed to open his account for a stable whose horses are running into a bit of form.

Race 5 No2 DELTA BAY
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Tom Marquand

DELTA BAY is carded to go off the outsider in this distaffers’ race but the daughter of Nathaniel should not be dismissed lightly. She needed her first run for Morrison at Ascot, and can upstage market principals Sunrise Valley and Aiming High.

Race 6 No1 ADMIRALTY HOUSE (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Martin Harley

Sea The Stars gelding ADMIRALTY HOUSE has outperformed his starting price in earning runs at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford. He ran into the smart Grand Alliance on the last named occasion, and that colt went on to run in the Derby. He’s carded to be paper favourite or second favourite and on this switch to turf can get the better of what looks a straight match with Soul Stopper.

WETHERBY – 07/06/2022

Race 2 No13 TWILIGHT FALLS (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Tom Eaves

Five contenders with earning form make this a tricky novice to weigh up, but as a value option TWILIGHT FALLS looks worth siding with. He’s been easy to back on both starts at Carlisle and Haydock, but key to his chance today is that he was only a length and threequarters adrift of the useful winner Zanbaq when fourth last time, and any upgrade on that would see him firmly in the shake-up.

Race 5 No8 SAULIRE STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

The blinkered SAULIRE STAR lacks a turn of foot but is nevertheless earning her corn for her new trainer. When beaten a whisker at Hamilton last time she was placing for the sixth time in eight starts since jo8n8ng Easterby, and deserves to go one better.

CHELMSFORD CITY – 07/06/2022

Race 1 No6 METAL MERCHANT (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: William Buick

Although Indian Dream sets a high bar for his foes to aim for, it would not surprise me if Thunder Cat improves past him. The selection is from the first crop of Roaring Lion and was not without support on debut at York. Though beaten a long way for his midfield finish he has greatly benefitted for the run. One that appeals even more, however, is METAL MERCHANT, who though failing to justify an on course gamble at Leicester was too green to do himself justice, and is now fully primed.

Race 3 No10 KODIAC SIGN (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

During this week and into Royal Ascot Stoute will enjoy the honeymoon period that inevitably follows a Classic triumph. The Cazoo Derby success of Desert Crown can resonate here with a victory for KODIAC SIGN, who interestingly was one of the former’s galloping companions before he won the Dante Stakes at York. The selection proved costly in defeat on return to action at Doncaster, but has gone forward for that and can score in the same colours as his revered stablemate.
