Race 2 No6 QUICKEN AWAY (Nap)

Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Frankel colt QUICKEN AWAY disappointed me when beaten on his Newbury introduction because he’s one of the best juveniles in the powerful Balding academy. He had plenty to do at halfway but when going through the gears gained all the way to the line to hit the line hard. He’s benefitted enormously for the run and on this turning 1600 metres should go one better.

Race 4 No1 JAX EDGE

Trainer: Christopher Mason – Jockey: Gina Mangan

This easy five furlongs should play to the strengths of JAX EDGE, who finished last on her only previous visit to the course over two years ago but arrives on the back of a solid effort when narrowly beaten at Nottingham. A winner at Bath earlier in the summer, the mare has developed a good rapport with her rider and she can operate on an undulating track.

Race 6 No4 BLUE WONDER ( Each Way)

Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Several in this make appeal for exotic wagering and I would include DECALOGUE, PRODIGAL SON and SIR EDWARD LEAR. However the value could lie with BLUE WONDER on only her fourth outing of the season. Cut in the ground held no perils for her in a first career win at Haydock back in May, while she seemed to hit a flat spot before staying on when the birds had already flown at Leicester. It will therefore greatly enhance her prospects if she gets a strong pace to aim at.

Race 7 No2 GASPACHO (Nap)

Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

If she is ready for her seasonal return following a protracted break GASPACHO should enter calculations in this open affair. The Ghaiyyath filly was supported on each of her three outings towards the back end of 2025, scoring at Pontefract and Newmarket. She had her rivals strung out like washing for her final success over 1800 metres on the Rowley course to suggest this mile and a quarter will be no problem to her from a stamina perspective. Her trainer could hardly be in better form.

Race 8 No4 RICARDO PHILLIPS

Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Harry Vigors

RICARDO PHILLIPS was a slow burner but has really found his niche as a five-year-old, earning in all three starts and landing some good bets over course and distance last month in the colours of his trainer. He has cheek pieces added which should help him overcome his new mark.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 1 No5 CHEEKY CHESCA

Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allen

AURA OF MELANIA looks attractive after a personal best when second last time but so does CHEEKY CHESCA, who briefly looked like winning at Beverley last week before being overhauled on the uphill run to the line. She’d occupied a similar position on her previous outing at this easy course which is much more her cup of tea. She’s drawn to attack, and should see out the 1200 metres for a first career win.

Race 3 No4 METHGAL (Nap)

Trainer: Dylan Cunha – Jockey: PJ McDonald

METHGAL has a perfect slot in the gate one off the rail to go close in this sprint round a left handed bend. The gelding can consolidate a fine record since joining his South African trainer of a win and two seconds. He’s enjoying his change of surroundings, and is right at home on a slightly easy surface.

Race 7 No5 HANNEY GIRL (Each Way)

Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

HANNEY GIRL did her winning around this time in 2025 and has eased to a mark from which she can be competitive through the late summer. She’s troubled the judge on her last two starts and is perfectly berthed for this 1000 metres dash to get into the shake-up.

BANGOR-ON-DEE

Race 2 No1 ROADLESSTRAVELLED (Nap)

Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr

Grade 2 hurdles winner ROADLESSTRAVELLED last ran over jumps 18 months ago but he’s fit from a run on the Flat and should outclass his three opponents. He’s always promised to find his forte as a chaser, and has jumped well in practice at Jackdaw’s Castle for this first engagement with fences.

Race 5 No6 SYOSSET

Trainer: John McConnell – Jockey: Alex Harvey

The eye is drawn to SYOSSET, who at the base of the handicap gets a handy weight concession from his opponents. The chestnut has earned on all four of his summer jumps outings in Ireland and with cheek pieces added looks the one to beat.
