REDCAR
Race 4 No7 PER CONTRA (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
PER CONTRA has spent much of the year in racing’s wilderness, but demonstrated with an improved showing at Beverley that an overdue success could be imminent. There was much more sparkle about the five-year-old who has dropped to a workable mark that he can now exploit.
Race 6 No5 SWEET KISS (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
From the same stable, SWEET KISS figures to be a tough nut for her foes to crack and looks a bet worth waiting for. The Ulysses filly gained rapid fire back-to-back triumphs at this time in 2025, and having gone within a nostril of another success on her latest start at Redcar could have the bases covered.
CARLISLE
Race 3 No1 LORD BYRON (Nap)
Trainer: Faye Bramley – Jockey: Tom Eaves
Former Coolmore inmate LORD BYRON was ambitiously campaigned over hurdles last season, troubling the judge at both the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals. That makes him a fascinating rookie to the UK Flat scene, and on a first outing in four months he can make his presence felt.
Race 7 No7 SANDY CRAIC
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
SANDY CRAIC has made the frame in nine of his 12 career starts, and when third at Haydock four weeks ago might have finished a lot closer to the winner but for meeting trouble in running. The Starman filly brings good form to the table and should again be involved.
SEDGEFIELD
Race 4 No4 DEXTER
Trainer: Oliver Greenall – Jockey: Toby Wynne
DEXTER put in a seasonal best when third at Worcester to indicate he’s a horse that’s getting ready to win. The former multiple winner in France ran well on his only previous visit to this course in a handicap hurdle and there was much to like about that latest run, where he stayed on from off the pace to finish in eye taking fashion.
Race 7 No2 KING ULANDA (Nap)
Trainer: Oliver Greenall – Jockey: Jack Tudor
Dual purpose horse KING ULANDA can put his best foot forward in the finale. He’s enjoyed a bountiful summer with successes in a novices’ handicap chase at Bangor and a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter. He’s up against a strong double entry from the Jenny Candlish yard but should have more to offer.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 2 No6 MERCANTILE
Trainer: Daniel Kubler – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
Night Of Thunder gelding MERCANTILE took a walk in the market on his first outing at Southwell but in the race itself gave a professional performance to chase home a well regarded and unbeaten foe from Godolphin. He laid the foundations for a bountiful late summer and autumn, and with Loughnane back in the irons should prove hard to beat.
Race 4 No1 LEX VICTORIA (Nap)
Trainer: Simon Crisford – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Sioux Nation filly LEX VICTORIA is mainly up against newcomers as she tries to defy a 7lb penalty for her debut triumph on the Newmarket July course. She gradually turned on the tap from halfway in that 1400 metres contest and was always doing enough to prevail as the principals pulled well clear. In the colours of her much vaunted stablemate Senorita Bonita she can remain unbeaten.
Race 8 No2 BINTARYANA
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Another plum ride for Murphy is BINTARYANA in the concluding sprint handicap. The daughter of Showcasing has enjoyed a bountiful 2026 season with figures of 122101. Having plundered a Class2 at York in June she failed to menace at Goodwood, only to bounce back with a first all-weather win at this course. Her inexperience of sand suggests she can make further strides on it.
