MISS ATTITUDE 8th King Charles III Stakes

MISS ATTITUDE started as an 80-1 roughie for this Group 1, and after her customary slow break from the stalls had a mountain to climb. To her credit she picked up strongly in the final furlong to be beaten only two and a quarter lengths by the winner Mission Central. She wants fast ground, and if there’s a suitable race while this baking heat continues it would be well worth Jack Channon’s while in bringing her out again quickly.

FRIENDLY SOUL 3rd Duke Of Cambridge Stakes

It all went wrong for FRIENDLY SOUL when she missed the break and was squeezed out at the start. She turned into the home straight with only one rival behind her, but then twice met interference, and when eventually finding a way through on the far rail closed all the way to the line. This multiple scorer and Group 1 winner is clearly on the way back, and can fare better when moved up to a mile and a quarter by John Gosden, possibly at the Newmarket July meeting.

TOULEEN 2nd Coronation Stakes

While it would be a stretch of the imagination to suggest team tactics were employed in preventing TOULEEN going forward at a crucial stage of this Group 1 in the home straight, it can’t be denied that Saffie Osborne was pushed back in to have her momentum halted by Wayne Lordan on True Love. Considering how strongly this diminutive filly finished when at last seeing daylight it was a huge effort to get within a length and a half of the untroubled winner Precise. It will be fascinating to see how these fillies fare in a rematch, as in different circumstances the runner-up would have made a race of it.

TEN POUNDS 12th Wokingham Handicap

Trying to better his third placing in the same contest in 2025, TEN POUNDS attracted on course support only for the game to be virtually up when he badly missed the break. Racing down the centre, the gelding came onto the bridle two furlongs out to see him trade at just over 6.5 in running. Sadly for trainer Joey Ramsden that proved an optical illusion as the damage had been done, and the gelding weakened into 18th. It might take a stretch of the imagination to consider this Valmont-owned individual as unlucky, but should he go for an equivalent race at Newmarket and/or the Stewards Cup I will back him to make amends.
