NEWMARKET
Race 2 No3 INNICHEN
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
The benefit of having had a race can count for a lot in this 1000 metres novice, with INNICHEN a looking the answer. The son of Mehmas met with interference on his Bath debut and looked after when the incident scuppered his chance of winning. The experience can be shown to be worth its weight on gold today.
Race 3 No11 CRAZEE ICON (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Sixties Icon filly CRAZEE ICON was a very unfortunate loser at Chester when persistently denied racing real estate while she again met with interference from a hood up ride when second on her final start at Goodwood. She’s done well through the winter and should finish with gusto on the run from the Dip.
Race 6 No3 TIGER POWER (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew a balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald
The rangy TIGER POWER demonstrated his well being when scoring on a first outing of 2026 at Southwell where he came home unchallenged. The son of Profitable showed he gets the mile well, and has strong claims to trouble the judge on handicap bow in an admittedly wide open affair.
Race 7 No10 MYTHICAL GUEST (Each Way)
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Jack Callan
MYTHICAL GUEST has won on this terrain and finished in the money on three separate occasions last year including on his final start in early November. While MISTER WINSTON is one to have a saver on, my selection can go well getting weight from the field.
NEWTON ABBOT
Race 3 No3 IRISH CHORUS
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy
IRISH CHORUS looked to have plenty up her sleeve when scoring at Warwick for which a 6lb rise doesn’t look insurmountable. She’s looking to make this a third success from her last four starts, and is in the mood to achieve it.
Race 5 No1 SOLDIEROFTHESTORM (Nap)
Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr
Superior jumping from SOLDIEROFTHESTORM saw him come home unchallenged over the tricky Sandown fences to make it two successes from his last three outings. This is a completely different track, but he’s a well balanced horse for whom front running tactics can again reap dividends.
MARKET RASEN
Race 2 No2 CHATTY GIRL
Trainer: Alex Hales – Jockey: Bryan Carver
CHATTY GIRL has shown sufficient ability on her races over hurdles to suggest she could shake up an odds-on foe in this mares’ maiden hurdle. In the colours of the Bloomsbury Stud, the former bumper winner appeals as a value bet.
Race 5 No3 GRAIN TRADE (Nap)
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
GRAIN TRADE can be a law unto himself, but if on a going day would win this handicap chase. Confidence in the seven-year-old is heightened by the good form of his trainer’s chasers.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 6 No5 GREY SANDS (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey- Jockey: David Probert
Bailey does well with the horses he campaigns on the Flat at GREY SANDS is very interesting on debut for the trainer after scoring on the all-weather for Joseph O’Brien. He landed some good bets in the Southwell contest back in January, forging well clear of an equally well fancied rival.
Race 7 No3 PROFIT STREET
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Luke Morris
PROFIT STREET has either won or been placed in last last 12 of fifteen outings since joining Owen. The last three of those successes have happened at this course, and from a good draw he’s strongly fancied to recoup the losses sustained when he failed to recover from an awkward start at the end of last month.
