Neil Morrice shares all of his best bets and tips for Saturday’s racing coming your way from Carlisle, Beverley , Chester, and Lingfield Park on 30 May 2026.
CARLISLE
Race 1 No10 CASTLE STUART (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Cam Hardie
CASTLE STUART has enjoyed a good preparation for this courtesy of narrowly missing out on the frame in two outings at Doncaster and York. He was around three lengths behind handicap snip Warrant Holder on the Knavesmire when never closer than at the finish. He’s completely fine tuned now, andthe stiff finish here is what he wants.
Race 3 No1 REDORANGE
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: William Buick
There was a lot to like about the way REDORANGE landed some good bets at Windsor where once seeing daylight the gelding took the gap instantly to settle the issue. It was quick compensation for his luckless run on seasonal comeback at York. The gelding is having a third quick outing but has taken those races well, while the step up to Listed class should be within his compass.
Race 4 BETWAY LESTER PIGGOTT FILLIES’ STAKES (Group 3)
No4 ESTRANGE (Nap)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
The first Group race ever run at Carlisle can fall to the super talented ESTRANGE who is reported in top order for this first outing of 2026. The five-year-old brings an exceptional record of four successes from just seven career starts to the table, including this race 12 months ago and the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks. While Haydock is her happy hunting ground this race’s transfer to Carlisle shouldn’t bother her, while it has to be factored in that on her final two start last year she finished second in consecutive Group 1s, behind Minnie Hauk in the Yorkshire Oaks and Kalpana in the Champion Fillies & Mares at Ascot.
Race 5 No11 CREST OF FIRE (EW)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert
Another valuable race transferred from Haydock can see CREST OF FIRE taking away a cheque. He troubled the judge in a sequence of good races last year, while his 2026 return success at Southwell has provided a confidence boost for this clash with the unexposed PRINCLING.
BEVERLEY
Race 3 No5 MATTEO (Nap)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan- Jockey: Kevin Stott
MATTEO isn’t the most fashionably bred individual but the way the son of Coulsty delivered on his introduction over this course and distance shows he has an engine. Out of the stalls like a flash, he dominated the contest on the far rail and quickened nonchalantly away from his rivals to score by four and a half lengths. It will be no surprise if in this admittedly much hotter race he produces a carbon copy display.
Race 6 No1 BRADBURY
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Ryan Sexton
BRADBURY didn’t enjoy the rub of the tree at Wolverhampton but had every chance in a race he should have won at Ripon. He travelled beautifully, forged two lengths ahead only to idle and get mugged on the line. He represents the proverbial winner without a pertly for this race which has cut up in his favour.
Race 7 No6 BULLINGTON BOY (Each Way)
Trainer: Joey Ramsden – Jockey: Sam James
One with good win and place prospects in this open affair is BULLINGTON BOY. I’ve watched him make several frame finishes through the spring and feel he needed his recent run back on grass, which was better than it looked. He’s a horse with room for progression and Ramsden can extract some of that out of him today.
CHESTER
Race 1 No11 TOWN QUEEN
Trainer: Karl Burke – Jockey: Pierre-Louis Jamin
TOWN QUEEN faced a tough task against her stablemate Lady Youmzain on debut at Pontefract but acquitted herself well. She then ran into Karvala at Thirsk, and though edged out in a tight finish lost no caste in the defeat. She’s now fully tuned and should open her account for owner Jaber Abdullah.
Race 2 No8 PURE GRIT
Trainer: Andrew Baldng – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Newcomer PURE GRIT is the subject of favourable reports from Park House Stables. The son of Pinatubo has a good mid gate draw and can take the spoils under the champion jockey on the way to better things.
Race 3 No5 FURTURRA (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
On the rare occasions that Murphy teams up with Easterby it usually spells business, and his mount FURTURRA is therefore of maximum interest in this humble seller. The Nap chased home stablemate Cailin Aine at Musselburgh last week when the pair finished clear. That’s the best form on offer in this race in which the downgraded Caturra gelding enjoys a plum draw.
Race 4 No4 SAVROLA ( Each Way)
Trainer: Dianne Sayer – Jockey: Kaiya Fraser
SAVROLA showed up well for a long way before lack of condition took its toll at Hamilton. This ultra consistent earner usually needs a run to blow away the cobwebs and can fare much better, especially if getting onto the lead, or obtaining a handy position.
Race 7 No9 FOLK PAGEANT
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Another that likes to be on the pace is Newmarket scorer FOLK PAGEANT. She’s lightly raced, and has the perfect draw to pursue a stalking role before striking in the short home straight.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No2 SWEET REWARD
Trainer: Jonny Portman- Jockey: Olivia Tubb
Tubb knows how to get the best out of SWEET REWARD, who looked very good value for his clear cut successes over course and distance earlier in the month when the combination were clear through the final three furlongs. This race has cut up favourably for the Nap, who from his raised mark is in the mood to follow up.
Race 5 No5 SWORD SALUTE
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Rowan Scott
SWORD SALUTE ran green on his debut at Redcar which cost him and his supporters dearly. The Masar colt had been heavily supported, but from seeming in control suddenly floundered. That earning experience has nevertheless greatly benefited the selection, who will be a lot more streetwise.
