AINTREE

Race 3 No3 MANUELITO
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Harry Cobden

First time back is probably the best time to catch MANUELITO, for whom Cobden looks a significant booking. The Cracksman gelding scored on his reappearance at Newton Abbot a year ago before falling at Ascot which signified a premature end to his season. Granted his ability to go well fresh he needs respecting.

Race 4 No1 INTOSOMETHINGGOOD
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

In a three cornered affair INTOSOMETHINGGOOD can prove the answer. The five-year-old delivered on his seasonal return at Newton Abbot and is going to enjoy stretching out to an extended three miles against ROYAL INFANTRY and KLIMT MADRIK. Both those rivals will be preferred to the selection in the betting, but might struggle to get past him.

Race 5 BETMGM HALDON GOLD CUP HANDICAP CHASE (Grade 2)

No1 JPR ONE (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr

Superior jumping again proved an ace card for JPR ONE when he gamely took out a handicap chase under top weight at Cheltenham last month. His connections have opted for this race, which he won in 2024, in preference to the Schloer Chase at Cheltenham and the move can pay dividends. With Brendan Powell sidelined with an injury O’Neill can prove an able deputy on one of the best rides in training.

Race 6 No1 MASTER CHEWY (Each Way)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Back from his summer break and after a breathing operation, MASTER CHEWY seems to have been overlooked in the betting for this Grade 1 handicap chase. His last six starts have been at either Grade 1 or Grade 2 level and include a second to Edwardstone in the Silviniaco Conti at Kempton and an identical placing behind Hitman in the Old Road at Aintree. That latest run shows how good my selection can be when fresh, as he is today.

Race 7 No8 LIMIER D’ARTHEL
Trainer: Philip Hobbs- Jockey: Harry Cobden

LIMIER D’ARTHEL is a handful at the best of times but Cobden did a great job in getting him to settle on his return to action at Worcester where he chased home a well supported winner. If that race has taken the fizz out of his bottle the JP McManus-owned five-year-old can go one better.

FONTWELL PARK

Race 1 No3 MAX D’AIRY (Nap)
Trainer: Neil Mulholland – Jockey: Richie McLernon

MAX D’AIRY debuts for the in form Mulholland yard with market confidence behind him on a first outing over hurdles. He broke brings solid bumper form to the table, having made a bold fist of trying to lead throughout at Newton Abbot, only to be narrowly denied by the well regarded Quickkick. For a big horse, he demonstrated his ability to handle a sharp trap on that occasion indicating that today’s figure of eight venue will not post him any problems.

HEXHAM

Race 3 No1 WALK TALL (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Freddie Gingell

It’s a long way from Dorset to the Scottish Borders but WALK TALL can make the journey worthwhile in this stayers’ handicap chase. Everything this point winner did as a hurdler is a bonus to the job he was bought to do which is jump fences. He’s a dyed in the wool chaser who has been well tutored for this first run over fences.

Race 4 No6 SEAN OG
Trainer: Diane Sayer – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

SEAN OG traded short in running before being nabbed at Carlisle for which he competes from 2lb higher. The consistent performer is a strong traveller who could play his hand late in this clash with RUBY ISLAND.

NEWCASTLE

Race 3 No8 MISS YOU NIGHTS (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass

MISS YOU NIGHTS outstayed her foes when opening her account at Wolverhampton, making her a big player on her nursery debut. She picked up in willing fashion when the penny dropped and can stage a repeat as long as she gets a decent pace to aim at.

Race 7 No6 OXFORD CIRCUS
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

It would be no surprise to see Owen set up the returning from injury Doyle with a winner in the shape of OXFORD CIRCUS, who though going up 5lb for his recent Southwell triumph can find that much improvement.
