CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 5 No4 HANSTEEN (Nap)
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart
HANSTEEN goes to post with his tail up following a career first success when he landed a gamble at Pontefract and a second at Southwell when after trying to make all he was claimed in the final furlong. As that was a first outing on sand for the gelding’s it might have been a learning experience, and he should prove more at home back on turf.
Race 6 a No7 DUNNINGTON LAD (Each Way)
Trainer: Peter Wnks – Jockey: Shay Farmer
From the base of the weights and equipped with a first time visor, DUNNINGTON LAD a a make this a first success in exactly two years. While more horses have beaten him than he has beaten this year, the addition of the headgear can help propel him onto the podium at a working mans’ price.
FFOS LAS
Race 3 No3 BIRD OF WAR
Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: Harry Vigors
BIRD OF WAR ended 2025 by opening his account at Newcastle and in three outings this year has improved from race to race. He returned to Gosforth Park to go down in a blanket finish at the end of June which is a clear signal he’s on the way back. He can take out this first division of the 1400 metres handicap in the colours of Fitri Hay.
Race 4 No7 KALEIDOSCOPE EYES (Nap)
Trainer: Robbie Llewellyn – Jockey: R Downey
No Nay Never filly KALEIDOSCOPE EYES has proved easy to back on all three starts this season, though a couple of recent visits to her local track have seen her take away a cheque. Her latest success happened over the course and distance last autumn, and remaining on her favoured terrain she looks primed to return to winning ways.
Race 6 No4 SOMETHINGINTHEAIR (Each Way)
Trainer: Stan Moore – Jockey: David Egan
At prices ranging from 300-1 and 50-1, SOMETHINGINTHEAIR showed a modicum of ability in three educational runs at a juvenile. That served to get the Lope Y Fernandez filly a handicap mark, and in this weakly contested affair and back from a near 250-day break she could raise her game.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 5 No4 TABASCO (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Ashley Lewis
Too Darn Hot filly TABASCO needs taking seriously getting upwards of a stone from three opponents in a race that’s cut up beautifully for her. She’s finished second on each of her last two outings including in a Class4 at Epsom last month. Then stepped up to two miles at Doncaster she met interference before a narrow defeat, with the first two home pulling nine lengths clear. That’s solid form to bring to the table, and she can open her account.
Race 6 No1 HOPE RISING
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Rob Hornby
A rare Flat runner from this stable, HOPE RISING fared well to claim a minor cheque at Bath where she was repeatedly denied a clear run between the quarter pole and furlong marker. The Phoenix Of Spain mare was running on the level for the first time in two years and should have derived considerable benefit from it.
Race 7 No6 JUBILEE TIME (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Tyler Heard
Although carded to start at a massive price and seeming on form to be the second string of her trainer’s twin attack on the prize, JUBILEE TIME is not without ability and could outrun her odds. She’s undergone a breathing operation since her underwhelming first run in a handicap at Southwell, which could make a difference.
