WINCANTON

Race 7 No2 BEAU SPEED (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Harry Cobden

With the fields affected by the drying ground my only advice here is BEAU SPEED whose second on Rules debut at Fakenham gives him an experience edge on Telescope newcomer CROCK’S BOTTOM.

SEDGEFIELD

Race 6 THE GEM STATE (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Freddie Gingell

THE GEM STATE stands out as the only acceptor from his Somerset stable and a rare runner here for Paul Nicholls. He finished second in an Irish pointer before being snapped up for £75,000, and though likely to start south of evens is one the professionals might find attractive.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No1 FERN HILL
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: J M Quinlan

This has cut up leaving FERN HILL as the logical solution. He’s generally been in the money throughout the season, and if repeating his second at Chepstow should be good enough.

Race 3 No5 QUEENS CHARM (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Callum Pritchard

Crystal Ocean mare QUEENS CHARM embarks on a career under Rules as the winner of her only point-to-point. She comes from a good family while her yard has smashed its previous seasonal record, and she can be part of the icing on its cake by taking the spoils.

Race 5 No4 PASSING PLEASURE
Trainer: Oliver Greenall – Jockey: Charlie Todd

Dual purpose horse PASSING PLEASURE reverts to hurdles after winning both over hurdles and fences this season. He’s looked much improved since joining the Greenall stable, and though turned over at Newcastle last time can recoup those losses.

Race 6 No2 BRIERY BUTTERFLY
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

BRIERY BUTTERFLY has squandered a few opportunities but this could be her best chance yet. She’s done better since being graduated into the handicap arena and following two solid efforts in defeat at Huntingdon and Ayr can now put her best foot forward.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No6 NANOSCIENCE (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

This 1400 metres looked an ideal trip for NANOSCIENCE when she made her final start last season at Newcastle. The Study Of Man filly is back from a break, having done well for her winter in the field, and with the champ in her saddle.

Race 4 No7 BLACK ENDEAVOUR (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Rimell – Jockey: Jack Mitchell

BLACK ENDEAVOUR had a happy knack of troubling the judge last season and returns to action as the most experienced in the field. He won at Nottingham in August and earned in all four of his other outings through the summer. He just needs to demonstrate that he handles Polytrack.
