Make no bones about it. This fixture is all about the Wallabies Lion taming quest! The men in Green and Gold get their series underway against the home nations finest on the 19th of July and they’ll be looking for a statement win here after the Lions hammered the Force this past Saturday evening.

Joe Schmdt has already sent a few of his big guns back to their provincial sides, Josh Flook, Hunter Paisami, and Matt Faeslar all set to turn out for the Red on Wednesday when they take on the Lions. Schmidt has opted to keep Tate McDermott, Harry Wilson, Fraser McReight and Tom Lynagh in the squad indicating that they will likely be involved in saturday’ clash. A few Waratahs and Brumbies have also been made available with the New South Wales side taking on the Lion on Saturday and the Brumbie playing them the following Wednesday. Three big names who have returned to their aforementioned franchises are Taniela Tupou, Andrew Kellaway and Corey Toole.

There is a bit of excitement brewing for allabie fans with two of last season’ standout players, Max Jorgensen and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, making their returns after long stints on the sidelines.

Fiji have named a pretty tidy squad for their July Tests with Josua Tuisova, Sireli Maqala, and Salesi Rayasi all selected along with a number of other overseas based players including forwards Eroni Mawi Samuel Matavesi, and Albert Tuisue.

The two sides have a bit of recent history with the Fjians recording a historic 15-22 win at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Verdict: Australia (-)
I just feel there’s something brewing with this Aussie squad and I’m on them clearing the handicap this Sunday.
