Emma Raducanu has announced that she will not be participating in the 2026 US Open this year due to a stress fracture she sustained during the grass court season.
She first felt pain in her right leg during the clay-court season, but she continued to play. The injury worsened during the grass-court season, as she played numerous matches in a short period, including five matches in one week and two on the same day at the Queen’s Club Championships.
After medical scans, doctors found a stress fracture in her right leg, which forced her to miss Wimbledon.
Emma Raducanu has played in the US Open five times (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025). She won the title in 2021, when she defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 in the final to become the first qualifier in history to win a Grand Slam singles title.
Ahead of the 2026 hard-court season, Raducanu reunited with coach Andrew Richardson, who also guided her during her memorable 2021 US Open triumph.
She had been working with Mark Petchey earlier this year, but they were unable to continue their partnership because of Petchey’s television commentary commitments.
