Neil Morrice shares all of his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s racing coming your way from Yarmouth, Redcar, Uttoxeter and Wolverhampton on 15 September 2026
YARMOUTH
Race 2 No7 SEA LA ROMA
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand
Haggas has a fine record with the family of SEA LA ROMA, who can make this a winning introduction in the colours of Christopher Tsui. WATCH PARTY at 300,000 guineas as a yearling and SPEAKING TREE at 200,000 euros are fascinating rivals who are more speedily bred, but I can pass on positive vibes from Newmarket about my selection.
Race 5 No4 MYTHICAL GUEST (Nap)
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Callum Shepherd
After a quiet spell Margarson has fired in a couple of recent successes with Dapper Guest who races in the same colours as MYTHICAL GUEST. The latter is going to enjoy a return to 2000 metres and back in his comfort zone, as he was 7lb wrong in the weights at Ascot last time and that run is best forgotten. He can raise his game today.
Race 6 No8 POWDERING (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Hector Crouch
POWDERING might not be the most consistent of sprinters but she ran well to make the podium on her recent visit to Kempton Park and now makes a first visit to this seaside track at the age of six. It would be no surprise to see her hit the board for a trainer amongst the winners.
REDCAR
Race 3 No9 MOUNT KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
Strong traveller MOUNT KING has carded his best form at Pontefract but run well in two of his three visits to this track, while the testing conditions were probably to blame for his underwhelming performance at Beverley last time. The chestnut should be afforded a strong pace to aim at.
Race 4 No1 PAPA COCKTAIL (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington- Jockey: Jack Mitchell
PAPA COCKTAIL did us a good turn when swooping to conquer at Southwell. Herrington has excelled in his handling of the hold up specialist who went close on each of two past visits to this venue. He’s taken a hike in the weights but with his tail up can again arrive late to trouble the judge.
Race 6 No5 STARTLING (Nap)
Trainer: John Wainwright – Jockey: Jason Hart
The ultra consistent STARTLING is 5lb higher than for her deserved Southwell success at the beginning of the month but her trainer might have found a good opportunity for his blinkered filly to strike while the iron’s hot, and she rates the best bet on the card.
UTTOXETER
Race 1 No7 BETTY’S TIARA
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Callum Pritchard
Though it took BETTY’S TIARA a year to notch her second triumph over hurdles that Worcester effort should have served to give the mare a needed confidence boost. She enjoyed the switch from fences, and though delivering by a narrow margin displayed a willing attitude that suggests a 4lb rise is surmountable.
Race 2 No5 TRIGGER THE LIGHT (Each Way)
Trainer: Sara Bradstock – Jockey: Miss Lily Bradstock
Former pointer TRIGGER THE LIGHT makes a second outing after a second breathing operation and is in good order for this third start under Rules. He got close to a couple of the flights when finishing on the podium in Manalish’s race at Southwell but needed that run, while he will appreciate today’s longer trip. His point form at Larkhill is also strong.
Race 5 No3 BAGHEERA GINGE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
Four times chase winner BAGHEERA GINGE is especially effective on left handed courses like Stratford at Newton Abbot. His chances soar if he can get onto an easy lead, and I’m banking on him achieving that. He troubled the judge here on two occasions as a novice hurdler, and is fancied to bounce back from his uncharacteristic fall at Stratford.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 3 No1 TREDEGAR SQUARE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
It’s always tough for horses to successfully carry penalties in novice races but TREDEGAR SQUARE can achieve it. This early foal survived a market drift to score on debut at Kempton Park when coming home unchallenged. The close relative of multiple scorer Glory Fighter can handle the drop to 1200 metres even though drawn worryingly wide.
Race 4 No7 NOT THAT GUY (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Although he’s returning from a a long absence NOT THAT GUY should win this if as good as he was when we last saw him chasing home Shipbourne at Newbury. This is only his third career start, he has the champ in his saddle and his experience edge can prove the deciding factor against 130,000 guineas newcomer INKBERROW.
Race 7 No12 HAVE YOU A MINUTE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tom Tate – Jockey: Josephine Gordon
HAVE YOU A MINUTE won here at Christmas 2023 and has subsequently made most of his all weather appearances at Dunstall Park. He gained his latest triumph around this time last year, and when going close on a recent outing at Southwell indicated he’s nearing another success for his veteran handler.
