Cameron Norrie has booked his spot in the third round of the National Bank Open by defeating Ignacio Buso 6-3, 6-3 in Montreal.
Ignacio Buse started the match with confidence and played aggressive tennis from the baseline. He hit powerful forehands and tried to keep Cameron Norrie under pressure by aiming deep shots into the corners.
Norrie stayed calm and used his strong movement to reach almost every ball. The rallies were long, with both players running across the court and fighting for every point. Buse looked for chances to attack with faster shots and the occasional drop shot, but Norrie answered with steady groundstrokes and smart placement.
When he had the chance, Norrie moved to the net and finished points with simple volleys. As the match went on, Norrie’s consistency and patience helped him take control, while Buse continued to compete with energy and determination.
Norrie will now face Australia’s Alex de Minaur in what will be the seventh ATP Tour meeting between the two players. Their head-to-head record is tied at 3-3, making this one of the most evenly matched rivalries on tour.
The two players have already met twice this season. Norrie won their first match 6-4, 6-4 in the third round of Indian Wells. De Minaur got his revenge a few weeks later, defeating Norrie 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-2 in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
