THIRSK

Race 1 – AMERICAN STYLE 1/1

AMERICAN STYLE left his debut effort well behind when runner-up to the subsequent Chesham Stakes (Listed) second at Leicester last month.

Kevin Ryan-trained juveniles have been in good form lately and he may get off the mark at the third attempt in the British Ebf Restricted Novice Stakes.

Bella Love could go close if building on her pleasing debut second at Wetherby.

Stirrup Cup finished second over six furlongs at Carlisle last time and cannot be ignored, while Cugini also warrants consideration.

Race 3 – THE REVEREEND 5/4

THE REVEREND is an interesting prospect on his return to action in the British EBF Novice Stakes.

He posted a stylish success on his only two-year-old start, with a degree of ease about that win.

A half-brother to Group Three winner Angel Power, The Reverend could be a useful prospect.

Race 4 – SAVVY WARRIOR 18/10

SAVVY WARRIOR can build on a recent success as he tackles the first division of the Weatherbys ePassport Handicap.

Out of luck in four juvenile starts, the three-year-old showed initial promise over a mile on his seasonal return in April, but upped to 10 furlongs at Pontefract the following month he clearly did not stay.

Trainer Sean Woods adopted a new plan after that, moving down to seven furlongs at Wetherby last month – a decision which yielded an immediate return with a one-and-a-half-length victory.

The win should have given him a nice confidence boost and even though he is saddled with an extra 4lb this time, Savvy Warrior can prove up to the task.

Race 7 – WILLOW BABY 9/2

WILLOW BABY caught the eye with an unlucky fifth over five furlongs at Ripon.

A further 2lb drop in weights might help his chances and a breakthrough success looks around the corner now stepping back up to six furlongs in the Great Prices On Bresbet.Com Handicap.

Calafrio must enter calculations after his good second tackling track and trip. Foreseeable Future needs to be considered having produced a third-placed finish attempting five furlongs at Ripon.

THIRSK

Race 1 – GISELLES DEFENCE 33/20

A Joe Leavy claim negates the small rise in weights GISELLES DEFENCE received for finishing second when tackling this trip at Leicester recently.

Appears to hold solid claims in the opening Betfred ‘Bet Builder’ Apprentice Handicap.

Daisy Roots was a good runner-up at Brighton two starts ago and must be considered on just her third outing over this distance.

Mrembo went well both starts at this venue and is nicely weighted, while Silver Nightfall could feature if ready making stable debut.

Race 3 – MR WAGYU 33/20

MR WAGYU hit the bar on Derby day and a return trip to Epsom for the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap can yield compensation.

John and Sean Quinn’s admirable performer has been running consistently well so far this term, not beaten too far in any of his four starts, with his short-head Epsom defeat a particular highlight.

He has placed on each of his three Epsom starts so clearly enjoys the particular test the track poses, and his subsequent Ripon third was another good attempt. Back on the famous Downs off a reduced mark of 92, Mr Wagyu can his presence felt once more.

Race 4 – ALPEN POWER 4/1

ALPEN POWER can enjoy his moment in the spotlight in the Betfred “Pickyourpunt” Handicap.

Charlie Johnston’s three-year-old has endured some mixed fortunes so far this term, with three placed efforts interspersed with a couple of disappointing runs on ground that had a bit of cut.

His best efforts have been on the all-weather but he is on a fair mark and has a fine rider booked in Billy Loughnane.

Race 6 – MARLAY PARK  9/2

Course specialist MARLAY PARK is a four-time track and trip winner and was a good fourth in a more competitive handicap here on reappearance.

May bounce back from a below-par effort at Lingfield now revisiting this venue in the Betfred Passionate About Sport Handicap.

Justcallmepete ran well finishing fourth at York last time. Might go close off a 1lb lower mark.

Tropez Power remains a longstanding maiden on turf he cannot be ruled out after finishing third over 1m at Haydock off this mark last time.
