Tuesday’s UK racing tips come your way from meetings at Southwell, Wolverhampton and Lingfield on 5 December 2023.
SOUTHWELL
Race 1 – HURLERONTHEDITCH 9/4
HURLERONTHEDITCH showed plenty of ability last season with multiple placed efforts.
Unlucky to fall at the last at Warwick when 25 lengths clear over three miles on seasonal return and can make amends now.
Rates a top chance if delivering a clear round in the opening Harry Cobden Race Previews At Planetsportbet.Com Handicap Chase.
Sageburg County found success by eight lengths attempting a course and distance handicap chase in this grade last week and will be the main danger.
Firak scored narrowly at Hexham in April and makes for appeal on that form, while Eaton Collina could place.
Race 2 – SOMESPRING SPECIAL 6/1
SOMESPRING SPECIAL can get back on track in the Racing Specials Every Day At PlanetSportBet EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Chase.
Winner of two of her five hurdle spins, Anthony Honeyball sent her to Wincanton for her fencing bow but having cut out the early pace, she dropped away tamely and was pulled up, with the vet reporting she had lost a shoe.
It is perhaps best to put a line through that form and try again.
Race 3 – ABAYA DU MATHAN 2/1
ABAYA DU MATHAN has been going well this season including a smart second in a handicap chase at Doncaster last month.
Expect the 11-year-old to be a leading player in the Best Odds Guaranteed At Planetsportbet Handicap Chase.
Howyouplaythegame was a solid third at the same meeting attempting a 2m novices handicap chase and could go close.
Casa Tall and Hokelami could sneak into the places.
Race 4 – QUEENSBURY BOY 11/8
QUEENSBURY BOY won an Irish point-to-point in March and profiles well on paper for this race.
Finds an ideal opportunity and rates a likely player when resuming in the Bet 10 Get 10 At Planetsportbet National Hunt Flat Race.
Ted’s Gift maintains a promising profile having placed both starts to date over 2m at Worcester and will be a strong threat .
Ace Of Spades and A Pro Po shouldn’t be discounted either.
Race 5 – TEDTWO 3/1
TEDTWO placed twice before a success attempting a two-mile jumpers flat race at Catterick and a seventh in a higher graded contest at Kelso during March.
The Get Emma’s Xmas Cracker’s At Planetsportbet Maiden Hurdle looks like a good opportunity on hurdle debut.
Smurfette represents the Skeltons and produced a decent fourth on first hurdle outing at Warwick over two miles last month, so should be included.
Golden Ambition filled the same position at a massive price contesting a Lingfield 2m3f novices hurdle and hold claims.
Race 6 – CLASSIC CONCORDE 15/8
CLASSIC CONCORDE scored tackling a higher graded three-mile handicap hurdle on soft ground at Ffos Las and will have a great chance of doubling up in the Download The Planetsportbet App Handicap Hurdle.
Zwicky ran well at Doncaster attempting a handicap hurdle when third.
Won a big field handicap hurdle prior at Carlisle, so should be respected.
Drop Flight makes for appeal on seasonal return following a close second in a Hexham three mile hunters chase during April.
Race 7 – ANNIE DAY 11/2
ANNIE DAY returned from a break finding success by a neck tackling a similar level handicap hurdle at Warwick.
Looks set to replicate that success in the final race of the day the Bet & Watch At Planetsportbet.Com Handicap Hurdle.
Major Fortune ran with credit at Exeter finishing fifth in a 2m1f handicap hurdle. May go close with this event looking easier.
Begoodtoyourself won attempting this handicap hurdle grade on Sunday at Carlisle and makes for appeal if turning up.
LINGFIELD
Race 3 – DASHING DARCERY 7/4
DASHING DARCEY is the pick in the second division of the Boost Your Acca At BetMGM/EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.
Sent off favourite on his Wolverhampton debut, the Muhaarar colt was pulled up not long after the start as his rider felt something was amiss.
He enjoyed a better run at the second attempt though, being beaten just a neck at Newcastle after a slightly slow start, and he should be up to winning a race of this nature.
Race 5 – LIGHT SPEED 11/10
LIGHT SPEED can chalk up his hat-trick in the BetUK. Home Of The Acca-Fenwa Handicap.
Trained by Andrew Balding, the Mehmas gelding has now won two of his three career starts, having put an initial sixth at Southwell in October well behind him.
Seven furlongs looked a bit on the short side first time up, but he clearly learnt plenty for the run, as he kept on well over that trip to score at the second time of asking before moving up to an extended mile.
Light Speed seemed to appreciate the extra distance as he won with a degree of authority that is perhaps not quite accounted for in his opening mark of 80.
The dam’s side of his family is all stamina so another leap to 10 furlongs here should not be an issue.
Race 7 – SEA ME DANCE 4/1
SEA ME DANCE found a new level upped to 14 furlongs and now she tackles two miles in the Boost Your Acca-Fenwa With BetUK Handicap.
She ran into some decent types on her two juvenile starts and has raced consistently over a mile and a half, but took another step forward at Wolverhampton last time when a convincing length winner. Her breeding suggests two miles should be within her compass.
Race 8 – MUMAYAZ 9/2
MUMAYAZ is consistent and will be a leading contender in the last race of the day.
Placed second twice here including over course and distance prior to a runner-up effort at Wolverhampton tackling a higher graded 6f handicap.
Sixties Chic brings strong form with a Wolverhampton success preceding a close second over seven furlongs and will be the main danger.
A Pint Of Bear did well at Wolverhampton when 1.5L third attempting this journey and should be respected.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 – CHURCHILL BAY 7/2
CHURCHILL BAY showed plenty of ability contesting a course and distance handicap in this grade when a neck second and will be a leading contender.
Sherdil filled the same position tackling a track and trip handicap finishing less than a length behind the winner. May go close.
Brave Display and Tommytwohoots should both be on the shortlist.
Race 4 – TIARAQUEEN 3/1
TIARAQUEEN can get off the mark in the Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM EBF Maiden Stakes.
William Haggas’ runner was second at Kempton last month, posting a satisfactory introductory run when beaten just over a length by a rival with previous experience.
She looked a bit green at stages so should be better for it.
Race 6 – WHATWOULDYOUKNOW 2/1
WHATWOULDYOUKNOW has hit a bit of a purple patch and can continue to capitalise in the first division of the Bet £10 Get £40 At BetMGM Handicap.
His confidence should be riding high after recently snapping a year-long losing streak, although he had hit the bar on a few occasions in the interim.
Race 8 – LOUISIANA BAY 7/1
LOUISIANA BAY showed ability at Chelmsford finishing a good third in a handicap and has a big chance here.
Trusty Scout scored tackling this trip and handicap level at Kempton and should be respected.
Kemerton ran with credit at Pontefract two starts ago when a close fifth and holds claims along with Urban Champion.
