NEWTON ABBOT

Race 2 No7 CRYSTAL MER

Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Jonathan Burke

CRYSTAL MER concluded his time under the wing of now retired Paul Webber with one of his best efforts when third at Plumpton. He’s joined a trainer who has had notable success with Eyed, who also came from Cropredy Lawn and runs in the same colours of Martin Hughes. Should the change of scenery have benefitted him, he can gain an overdue first career win.

Race 4 No2 INVESTMENT MANAGER (Nap)

Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell

With three successes over fences as well as two over hurdles here, INVESTMENT MANAGER is very much part of the furniture. His trademark accurate jumping let him down when he was beaten on his latest visit to the track, but it will be no surprise to see him bounce back.

BEVERLEY

Race 6 No5 SAWGRASS (Nap)

Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Ryan is an interesting booking for SAWGRASS, who had been disappointing until making a podium finish at Brighton last time, and may be capable of further improvement on the long journey from West Berkshire.

Race 7 No8 ASTAPOR (Each Way)

Trainer: John Riches – Jockey: Ethan Tyndall

ASTAPOR troubled the judge as a 66-1 roughie on his first run of the year at Wolverhampton. His best form is however on grass, and under a rider who knows him he can take away a cheque on a belated first visit to this course.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 3 No1 SWIFT SALIAN

Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

SWIFT SALIAN is a one time career winner that regularly catches the judge’s eye, as was the case on his latest start at Thirsk when after attracting support he was narrowly denied. He’s operating at the same level with a top northern jockey doing the steering, and should get into the shake-up again.

Race 4 No2 DOTHAN (Nap)

Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

DOTHAN has plenty going for him in that he won well on his first run back at Doncaster, is the least exposed member of the field and hails from a stable that has been in great form throughout the season. He’s attracted support on his last three of four career starts, while having missed an opportunity since his visit to the Town Moor this looks more attractive.

CARTMEL

Race 4 No3 GOLDEN MAVERICK

Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Sean Bowen

GOLDEN MAVERICK boasts a good win to run record in his time with Snowden, having been a five times scorer on the Flat with his previous trainer. He comes back from a short break this evening strongly fancied to add to his laurels under the champion jockey.

Race 7 No5 GALILEO SILVER (Nap)

Trainer: Mrs Rhiannon Lodge – Jockey: Mr Daniel Cherrimar

GALILEO SILVER numbered successes in a novice hurdle, a bumper, two handicap chases and a handicap hurdle in his time with Sam Thomas. This versatile performer looks just the type to do well in the hunter-chase division and can parry the challenge of First Lord De Cuet.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No2 DR STRANGELOVE (Nap)

Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Sean Levey

DR STRANGELOVE gained valuable experience of this track when popping up at 16-1 on his introduction last month. Although burdened with a penalty he should operate just as effectively moved up to 1400 metres, while he’s been handed the plum spot on the rail.

Race 6 No11 CHILLI QUEEN (Each Way)

Trainer: Emma Lavelle – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

CHILLI QUEEN has put in three very good runs since moving to Lavelle at the end of last year, finishing second at Wolverhampton and this course before opening her account back at Dunstall Park. She’s benefitted from moving up the distance ladder, and looks well treated for this first run in a handicap.
