UK BEST BETS WEDNESDAY

HAYDOCK PARK

Race 5 No3 DUNBOYNE (Nap)
Trainer: Ian Donoghue – Jockey: Keith Donoghue

Three and a quarter miles in stamina sapping ground is just the ticket for DUNBOYNE, who though raised 3lb for his troubles, put in a solid effort to finish third in the Troytown at Navan. He appears to have put behind him a habit of downing tools at the business end of his races, and can make this a third win in six starts since joining Donoghue.

Race 7 No5 LUCKY LUGGER (Each Way)
Trainer: Matt Sheppard – Jockey: Lee Edwards

LUCKY LUGGER picked up only a minor cheque in an incident packed race at Ludlow last week and on that evidence has it to do. However, he could up his game if consenting to settle, while if this becomes a bog by the end of play he could be one of the few still going In a war of attrition.

LUDLOW

Race 2 No1 HOPELESS DANCER
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

In the colours of his trainer, HOPELESS DANCER can get us off on the right footing by posting a first success under Rules. While he wasn’t able to transfer the good form shown in three bumpers to hurdles at the first attempt, he’s benefitted from some home tuition, and should get the job done.

Race 3 No7 FLOWING CADENZA (Each Way)
Trainer: Venetia Williams – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch

Veteran FLOWING CADENZA hasn’t won for over two years and returns from a long absence. She therefore carries an element of risk, but aside from one poor run her form since joining Williams has been watertight, and at a massive price she is worth a small speculative bet.

Race 4 No3 WALKADINA (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor

Nothing traveled as well as WALKADINA coming down the hill at Cheltenham last month but in that two miles and five furlongs race her stamina ran out up the final hill. The Doctor Dino mare is back to two miles against her own sex and is strongly fancied to open her account for the season. She’s talented and is one to follow.

Race 7 No10 SEVEN STARS
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

Having gone down in a blanket finish at Kempton back in March, SEVEN STARS are turns with plenty of stable confidence behind her. She’s a second bet I’m looking forward to on this card, representing a yard that excels with fillies of her ilk in bumpers.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 6 No5 WINTER FLOWER (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Joanna Mason

Ghaiyyath filly WINTER FLOWER is one of the least experienced in this feature, and therefore open to further progression. The Camelot filly has shown ability on both grass and sand, and following a near miss at Newcastle can now shot that she’s just as effective on Polytrack by staving off the challenge of SUZETTE DEFOYE.

Race 9 No3 SOLAR EDGE
Trainer: Christopher Mason – Jockey: Gina Mangan

SOLAR EDGE went down by a neck over this course and distance a fortnight ago and remains at the minimum trip for a race featuring a handful of sprinters that have been in regular earning form. The grey gets on well with his pilot and just needs to cope with a higher than ideal draw.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No11 SERENETTA
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Colin Keane

Kingman filly SERENETTA arrives at the course on the back of an encouraging first effort at Newmarket last month. The beautifully bred Nap is a half-sister to Arc winner Bluestocking. That gives her plenty to live up to, but she can begin with success in this novice in which she enjoys an experience edge.

Race 5 No11 POST RIDER
Trainer: Oliver Cole – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

POST RIDER took a 6lb hike for her Newmarket triumph in the autumn but remains a strong contender for a race in which she enjoys the best of the draw. The home bred filly has worked well on a similar surface at Whatcombe and has her tail up.

Race 9 No1 WYLD BILL (Nap)
Trainer: D Quinn – Jockey: Jack Callan

WYLD BILL seeks a fourth success from his last six starts and has a good chance of achieving it. He looked like he had jumped in at the furlong pole when romping home at Lingfield last week, and if in similar mood a 5lb penalty won’t stop him Following up that 13 lengths triumph.
