CARLISLE

Race 1 No7 THE JUKEBOX KID
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Ben Jones

The fitness of I AM MAX should see him earn at a price, but preference is for THE JUKEBOX KID who has jumped well in schooling at home, and who threatens to be better over fences than he was over hurdles. The selection has raced only three times under Rules and has plenty of scope for progression.

Race 2 No8 LOST FREQUENCIES (Each Way)
Trainer: William Coltherd – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

A value play in an open race is LOST FREQUENCIES, who after a couple of solid efforts in defeat should appreciate stepping up to two and a half miles. He can fend off strong competition from CLAIM THE THRONE and TORMUS GIANTSBANE.

Race 4 No7 FLORIDA DREAMS
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Brian Hughes

Richards saddles two in an interesting handicap hurdle but FLORIDA DREAMS appeals as his main arrow. The seven-year-old returns to the smaller obstacles after a narrow defeat over fences and that run has put the cutting edge on him.

Race 5 No4 THE KALOOKI KID
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

HANDSTANDS proved himself a top class operator in his first season over fences and it wasn’t his fault that he was hampered and had to be pulled up on his final start at Aintree. However, he may just need this first run back, and one that can cause him problems is THE KALOOKI KID who was being asked to run before he could walk in a Grade 1 novices’ chase at Aintree but returns as an older and wiser performer.

Race 6 No3 VAL DANCER (Nap)
Trainer: Mel Rowley – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch

Winner of this race 12 months ago, VAL DANCER is carrying 11lb more but with his ability to be at his best after a break he looks the one to be on. The front runner was only seen on three occasions last season, and with few miles on his racing clock has scope for further improvement.

HUNTINGDON

Race 2 No10 SIR EDWARD LEAR
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Jonathan Burke

This stable has done well with Percy Shelley since he was sent hurdling and in the same ownership SIR EDWARD LEAR is of some interest on debut over jumps. He’s taken well to jumping at home, having run well over Middle distances on several occasions on the Flat.

Race 3 No2 PIC ROC (Nap)

PIC ROC blotted his copybook when crumpling on landing just as he warming to his task at Worcester. It’s impossible to say whether he would have won, but this is a gilt edged opportunity for him to redress the balance, and his best route to victory is by leading.
