PONTEFRACT

Race 5 No8 JEWEL MAKER
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

While it is three months since JEWEL MAKER was last seen in action several of his rivals are returning from much longer lay offs. Furthermore, the veteran should welcome this return to grass on which he was a winner here last summer, while Easterby has been doing well with his eastlynseason handicap runners.

Race 7 No6 MISS HATHAWAY (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

The same trainer/jockey combination can plunder the nightcap with MISS HATHAWAY. The Bungle Inthejungle filly troubled the judge on all but one of her nine starts on turf and sand and greatly deserves a change of luck, as there is nothing ungenuine about her.

HEXHAM

Race 1 No3 YOUNG GETAWAY (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

The best bet of the day is YOUNG GETAWAY, who demonstrated with a resounding success at Newcastle that he now conquered the rudiments of jumping hurdles. He landed some good bets on that occasion, and can follow-up at the main expense of another penalised runner in Bemore.

Race 4 No8 HALFWAY HOUSE LAD
Trainer: Maurice Barnes – Jockey: Charlie Price

Superior jumping has helped HALFWAY HOUSE LAD to his triumphs at Newcastle and this course. He’s looked a different horse since undergoing a breathing operation, and though up in the weights is strongly fancied to complete a hat-trick.

Race 7 No5 JAPETUS
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

JAPETUS brings very solid form to the table for the concluding bumper. After a near miss on his first run he made no mistake when a well supported favourite at Newcastle. He should have more to offer, as his style of racing suggests he will handle this better ground.

WARWICK

Race 3 No2 I’VE MADEUPMYMIND
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Ben Jones

I’VE MADEUPMYMIND has earned in all four starts this season, getting off the mark when long odds-on at Bangor. The Blue Bresil mare has earned in all but one of her seven career starts in bumpers and hurdles and can build on that recent triumph under a penalty.

Race 5 No3 GRAHAM (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Niall Houlihan

GRAHAM was unable to justify strong market support on his latest outing at Kempton, where after looking held he rallied when all too late to catch the winner. At least the run confirms that he is in his comfort zone in handicaps, and now tried over a longer trip he can open his account.
