YORK
Race 1 No5 IZUBA (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald
Siyouni colt IZUBA represents an Ascot race that has worked out as he faces a step up in trip that should help bring out the best in him. The horse that finished a place behind him in third has franked the form, while the winner Never Enough went on to run in the Gimcrack. He should improve significantly and have the measure of GHOST RAIDER.
Race 3 No3 PERCY SHELLEY
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: George Wood
PERCY SHELLEY has gone up 2lb for finishing second at Newmarket but that was a good race, while he greatly enjoys the easy underfoot conditions he’ll experience today. He’s trying to end a long wait for success that stretches back four years, but he’s been in good form at home and can achieve it.
Race 4 No8 CASTLE STUART (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Barry McHugh
CASTLE STUART is proving an enigma with his tendency to put in the occasional howler. Having said that, he’s run some of his best races on the Knavesmire, while his stable has struck form with a vengeance. With most of the boxes ticked the Dubawi colt is carded to get into the shake-up.
Race 5 No4 REGIONAL (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
Whilst now in the veteran stage REGIONAL has been lightly raced in 2026 and is a fresh horse compared to some of his rivals. He’s not as good as he was, but he ran a cracker to trouble the judge in a Group 2 at the May meeting here, and contested the lead for a long way before eventually weakening in the Group 1 Jubilee at Royal Ascot. It would be no surprise to see him bounce back.
Race 6 No2 NORTHERN EXPRESS
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley
Having been scratched from his race at Ascot yesterday, NORTHERN EXPRESS can advertise his liking for York with a second success at the course this season. While not quite operating at the level that won him the International at Ascot two years ago he’s now taking advantage of a drop in the ratings, and he’s very well drawn for this race round a left handed bend.
FONTWELL PARK
Race 2 No3 MOAB (Nap)
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Brendan Powell
This has cut up favourably for MOAB to regain the winning thread. If running near to level at which he was placed at Punchestown he should prove hard to beat, while he ran well in a recent spin on the Flat at Salisbury and has no fitness issues.
