24/05/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s British meetings at Bath, Southwell, Bang-On-Dee, Lingfield Park and Newcastle on 24/05/2022.

BATH – 24/05/2022

Race 1 No5 SISTERANDBROTHER (Nap)
Trainer: Milton Harris – Jockey: Connor Planas

SISTERANDBROTHER made the perfect start for his trainer when scoring over a mile and a quarter earlier in the month. The chestnut wasn’t stopping at the finish, and should relish this step up in trip, while he receives weight from each of his four opponents.

Race 7 No4 EAGLES DARE (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Laura Pearson

EAGLES DARE is an idiosyncratic character who requires the kid glove treatment from the saddle in his races. Winless last year, he’s earned in each of his last two starts including in the race won by Merweb last month. He’s not one to have total faith in, but if on a going day can ruffle a few feathers.

Race 8 No3 FRED BEAR
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Trevor Whelan

Dual purpose horse FRED BEAR earned on two of his three all-weather outings when tried back on the Flat in the winter. After an effective hurdling campaign he returns for only a fourth career start on grass and could give paper favourite Owen Little plenty to think about.

SOUTHWELL- – 24/05/2022

Race 1 No6 DIAMOND ROSE (Each Way)
Trainer: J Smith – Jockey: Ciaran Gethings

DIAMOND ROSE has a knack of getting into the argument, and though you have to look back to the summer of 2019 for her last win she comes here with strong credentials, having chased home a much improved foe in Steady The Ship on her last two outings.

Race 6 No2 HEURE DE GLOIRE (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Phillip Armson

HEIRE DE GLOIRE reacted positively to the fitting of blinkers to score at Ffos Las back in March. She took charge of affairs straight away and never looked like being headed, a scenario her jockey will bid to repeat in a race where she might again get onto an easy lead.

BANGOR-ON-DEE – 24/05/2022

Race 1 No1 COULD BE TROUBLE
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Theo Gillard

COULD BE TROUBLE was a gritty winner at Warwick when returning to fences with her novice status still intact. She now goes handicapping against a dangerous foe in Mortlach, but at the respective prices is the value option and can defy top weight.

Race 3 No1 COPPER FOX (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

From the same stable, COPPER FOX is the one in this maiden hurdle with the most scope for progression. The chestnut chased home barnmate Kerosine Light on his first run under Rules at Bangor and has learned much from that largely educational outing.

LINGFIELD PARK – 24/05/2022

Race 2 No1 BEAU NASH (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Benoit De La Sayette

BEAU NASH needs to overcome a near 600-day absence if he’s to remain unbeaten, but in spite of his training issues the Golden Horn colt remains a good prospect, having taken the notable scalp of Wirko on his only start in the autumn of 2020. Upton Park and Cosmic Desert are going to make it interesting, but Beau Nash can outclass them.

NEWCASTLE – 24/05/2022

Race 3 No6 POST IMPRESSIONIST (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Several take the eye in an interesting novice, including Eldar Eldarov, but POST IMPRESSIONIST may prove too good. He produced a smart turn of foot to open his account at Ayr, and if in the same form should follow-up.

Race 5 No6 SUBSTANTIAL
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SUBSTANTIAL is an unexposed individual who looked at least as good value for his 6lb rise in the weights when scoring at Kempton. From a yard that can do little wrong, he’s strongly fancied to make it back-to-back successes.
