09/08/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice shares all of his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s racing coming your way from Nottingham, Carlisle, Lingfield Park and Chelmsford City on 09/08/2022.

NOTTINGHAM – 09/08/2022

Race 6 No2 DIVINE COMEDY (Nap)
Trainer: Chris Wall – Jockey: Kaiya Fraser

DIVINE COMEDY looked an improved filly when returning to open her account at Newcastle. The daughter of Le Havre has been afforded a confidence boost by that gritty success, and appeals as the only bet on this tricky betting card.

LINGFIELD PARK – 09/08/2022

Race 2 No3 APACHE SPARK (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rob Hornby

Having run into the smart Kinta at Kempton last time, APACHE SPARK can enjoy a smooth passage to a first career win in these somewhat calmer waters. The Sioux National filly is one of the most experienced in the field, and given normal progression should open her account from the favoured rail.

Race 3 No1 SEA TSARINA
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SEA TSARINA suffered a reverse when turned over as a 2-7 shot at Newmarket, but there were valid excuses for the defeat. She’s been given all the time needed to put it behind her, and can bounce back to the same level of form shown on her debut success at Yarmouth.

CARLISLE – 09/08/2022

Race 2 No2 CRIME FICTION (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

If there’s one that can improve a long way from its first outing it is CRIME FICTION, who hails from a yard whose juveniles always need experience. The grey was easy to back but finished just out of the money on his Beverley debut. He will be more streetwise for this venture on a similarly stiff track.

Race 6 No2 BASTILLE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

Another grey from the Easterby camp with a strong earning chance is BASTILLE. He put in his best effort so far on all-weather debut at Newcastle, and while his previous runs on grass don’t amount to much he can use that improved effort as a springboard to success.

Race 7 No4 HELM PRINCESS (Nap)
Trainer: Daniel Kubler – Jockey: PJ McDonald

The eye in this second division of the maiden handicap is drawn to HELM PRINCESS, who with just three outings without scoring under her belt is as dark as you like. Her stable is amongst the winners, and if progressing for this move into handicaps she should give some exposed rivals plenty to think about.

CHELMSFORD CITY -09/08/2022

Race 3 No3 QUANTICO
Trainer: Archie Watson – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Dubai Immo has had plenty of chances, and while three times placed Good Measure is out of a Royal Ascot winner the way to go could be newcomer QUANTICO. The son of Make Believe hails from a stable that can get them ready first time, and with Hollie Doyle in the irons should be monitored in market exchanges.

Race 4 No8 MUST BE ROYALE
Trainer: Mike Appleby – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Not only did MUST BE ROYALE take care of business in taking style at this course last month, but the form has received a subsequent boost. He’s bred to get every yard of this mile, and can follow-up.

Race 7 No4 SNAP AMBUSH (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Darragh Keenan

SNAP AMBUSH looks sure to go well racing from the same mark off which she finished second to Playday at Leicester. Back on Polytrack, she has a fine opportunity to better that satisfactory first run back, and to recoup the ensuing losses.
