05/07/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s race meetings at Pontefract, Wolverhampton, Brighton, Uttoxeter and Ffos Las on 05/07/2022.

PONTEFRACT – 05/07/2022

Race 2 No2 EAGLE COURT
Trainer, Tom Ward – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Although underwhelming in his three outings for his new trainer, EAGLE COURT has been given plenty to do and is surely better than what we have seen. He’s also derived a little respite from the assessor, and whilst all his rivals have been in better form, he faces an easier task in this smaller field.

Race 4 No4 CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: William Buick

Buick is an eye taking booking for CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD, whose chance in the Wokingham was extinguished when a rival in the adjacent stall became fractious and upset him. His previous placed run at Newmarket entitles him to the greatest respect, while any rain would not hinder his cause.

Race 6 No9 JACOVEC CAVERN (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Connor Beasley

Chimed is entitled to win this as he is way better than his latest offering for top connections indicates. However one that offers value in swingers and exactas is JACOVEC CAVERN, who was too green to do himself justice on debut at Windsor and could go forward sufficiently to run into the places.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 05/07/2022

Race 3 No8 GLORIOUS CHARMER (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Shane Kelly

GLORIOUS CHARMER looks the way to on his seventh straight visit to Dunstall Park. He won here at the end of April and has put in a couple of solid subsequent runs, going down by just threequarters of a length when third in a blanket finish behind Nacho at the end of May. Freshened by a subsequent short break, he can put in another big earning run.

Race 4 No9 BONITA B
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

BONITA B ran a cracker over an inadequate five furlongs at Windsor last week, staying on to take home a minor cheque. This 1200 metres trip is her optimum distance, and having won here in January and May a third track success should be within her grasp.

Race 5 No2 SUSPICIOUS (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Cieren Fallon

Nathaniel filly SUSPICIOUS looked a useful prospect when edging home ahead of Beautiful Secret on her Doncaster introduction last summer. She’s been given all the time needed to develop and mature, and can outclass her rivals on this belated return to the racecourse for a trainer who is adept with this type of individual.

Race 7 No3 STREET POET (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson

STREET POET is proving a model of consistency and has earned on his last half dozen all-weather outings. A multiple scorer at this course, and looks destined for another prominent showing.

BRIGHTON – 05/07/2022

Race 3 No3 SPANISH MANE (Nap)
Trainer: Julia Feilden – Jockey: Rose Dawes

Dawes has forged a good understanding with SPANISH MANE, who after scoring over a mile, narrowly failed to follow up from his revised mark and cut back to this seven furlongs. He now finds himself in a weaker race, and can bounce back.

Race 6 No5 IDEAL GUEST
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Tom Queally

IDEAL GUEST has the wherewithal to take out a second Brighton race in as many outings. He raised his game to score with plenty in hand in a first time visor with Queally returned to the saddle, and is in a good place to follow up, getting weight from each of his foes.

UTTOXETER – 05/07/2022

Race 2 No1 GEROMINO (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

GEROMINO’s halo slipped after a silk smooth first success over fences at Carlisle, with a fall at Ayr, a defeat by Nero Rock at Sedgefield and a heavy defeat at Perth. However, the strong traveller has thrived for a break since that run a month ago, and can now show his true colours by toppling market rival La Domaniale.

Race 5 No5 LATINO FLING
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

Milan mare LATINO FLING is a winner of three from six races over hurdles this year and hails from a stable doing well with its team of summer jumpers. The seven-year-old is likely to get the fast pace that suits her hold up style of racing, as well as moving back to the trip at which she was successful at Sedgefield two runs back.

FFOS LAS – 05/07/2022

Race 2 No1 CONSTITUTION (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

Churchill colt CONSTITUTION chased home Mysterious Night over a slightly longer distance on his introduction at Newbury. He went well in his winding up gallop for this, suggesting he’s going to be wiser with the benefit of that run under his belt.

Race 5 No10 HEROIC HOLLY (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

HEROIC HOLLY showed promise to trouble the judge on her final of three starts last year. It qualified the Australia filly for a mark which puts her in off-bottom weight on this handicap debut and switch from sand to turf.
