02/08/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s race meetings at Catterick Bridge, Ffos Las, Chelmsford City and Kempton Park on 02/08/2022.

CATTERICK BRIDGE – 02/08/2022

Race 1 No1 BOWLAND PRINCE ( Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

BOWLAND PRONCE is carded to start at double-figure odds, and if that’s accurate I shall have an each way bet on him. The Ribchester colt made great strides from debut to second start to chase home Chillhi at Newcastle, and with further progression must surely have a say on this return to turf.

Race 2 No5 MAGICAL EFFECT (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Jamie Gormley

The veteran MAGICAL EFFECT has raised his game to post back-to-back efforts at this course and Beverley that indicate he’s on the verge of a return to winning ways. Back on a fair mark, he should get his name on the scoresheet if enjoying some racing real estate at the business end of the contest.

FFOS LAS – 02/08/2022

Race 1 No2 OUR JESTER (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: James King

OUR JESTER makes abundant appeal on handicap debut and should take plenty of beating. The smart bumper performer has not enjoyed the rub of the green since having his attention switched to the Flat, but will receive strong handling from the saddle in this amateur riders’ contest, and that’s essential to get the best out of such a strong horse who is also a relentless galloper.

Race 4 No6 HIROMICHI (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

This could be the last chance saloon for HIROMICHI, but after two underwhelming displays in handicaps he needs to be persevered with. He’s been dogged by a problem with his joints, but if as is hoped the problem has now been eradicated he should be competitive and take home a cheque. Marquand is an eye taking booking for the grey.

CHELMSFORD CITY – 02/08/2022

Race 1 No3 HURRICANE KIKO
Trainer: Julia Feilden – Jockey: D Hogan

There’s a lot to like about the grey HURRICANE KIKO in a weak opener. He’s earned in both career starts in small fields at Newmarket and Yarmouth. With this visit to the third of the East Anglian venues in Britain he can put his head in front, at the main expense of Timewave.

Race 3 No2 BAZALGETTE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

BAZALGETTE has more than once found less than expected off the bridle, and is not the easiest of rides. However, he’s benefitted from having a new girl ride him in work, and is now in a place to better his brace of earning runs this season.

Race 4 No6 BAYSTON HILL
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Harry Davies

Though at eight the oldest member of the field, BAYSTON HILL can add to his good record at the track. It was in a seller that he finished third on his latest start, but now returned to his happy hunting ground he can raise his game under top apprentice Davies.

KEMPTON PARK – 02/08/2022

Race 2 No4 FERRARI QUEEN (Nap)
Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

FERRARI QUEEN got the job done at the first time of asking with a wide margin delivery at Doncaster. The Decorated Knight filly looked smart, and under a penalty is fancied to follow-up, as she had a perfect draw from which to break handily in this race round one tight-handed bend into the home straight.

Race 3 No7 COCO JAMBOO
Trainer: Marco Botti – Jockey: Neil Callan

COCO JAMBOO to beat Delirious Dream is the way this novice stakes can pan out. Both have good placed form to bring to the table but Coco Jamboo enjoys the benefit of her fillies’ allowance against a colt, and went down in a blanket finish to her latest outing at Newbury.

Race 5 No2 PROP FORWARD
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Adam Kirby

Iffraaj gelding PROP FORWARD made a winning return when equipped with a first time hood at Southwell. This well related individual can build on that New Year’s Day success and make light of a seven month absence for a stable that’s running into form.
