Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that Oscar Bobb may be considering a move away from Man City as the Norwegian winger continues to struggle for game time.
Bobb joined City as a 16-year-old and has since made 47 appearances for the club’s senior side, a respectable total that nevertheless masks his limited involvement in key competitions.
Despite his promise, consistent game time has been hard to come by, particularly in the Premier League. This season, Bobb has started only five league matches, underlining his difficulty in establishing himself as a regular option in Guardiola’s rotation-heavy squad.
The situation has been compounded by injury. Bobb has missed the last seven league fixtures due to a hamstring problem, disrupting any momentum he may have been building and further reducing his visibility at a crucial point in the campaign.
City’s decision to sign Antoine Semenyo earlier this month has added another layer of uncertainty to Bobb’s future.
Semenyo’s arrival is widely expected to intensify competition in the wide areas, potentially pushing Bobb further down the pecking order and limiting his pathway to consistent starts.
Speaking candidly, Guardiola did not deny that Bobb is eyeing the exit, admitting he understands the player’s frustration and ambition.
Asked whether Bobb wants to leave, Guardiola said, “I think so.”
However, the City manager stopped short of confirming whether a move would materialise during the current transfer window, describing it instead as a possibility rather than a certainty.
“I don’t know yet,” said Guardiola, when asked about Bobb’s future.
“I know there are rumours, I know there are talks but I don’t know right now.”
