Liverpool conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 at Fulham in their Premier League clash, extending their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions.
Slot watched his side look set for victory when Cody Gakpo struck in stoppage time at Craven Cottage, only for Harrison Reed to level moments later with a stunning finish for Marco Silva’s team.
Earlier, Harry Wilson had given Fulham the lead with the only shot on target of a tight first half, before Florian Wirtz equalised after the break.
Despite Liverpool scoring 32 goals in 19 games and being held to a second successive draw in 2026, Slot rejected the suggestion his side lack cutting edge in the final third.
“Do you think we created more when we were conceding more goals? I wonder if that is true,” Slot said. “I would love to create five times as many chances and not concede a chance at all.
“I didn’t change as a manager. I would love to play with eight attackers if that’s possible defensively, but if those eight attackers don’t defend enough, it’s hard to win a game of football.”
Slot pointed to the balance of the contest, especially before the interval. “I see a lot of football. In the first half, hardly any chances were conceded at both ends,” he said. “That’s how the Premier League usually works. In the second half it becomes more open and you get more moments.”
He highlighted near-misses that could have changed the outcome. “I remember a cross Curtis Jones was close to scoring from, a deflected shot from Cody Gakpo and a one-on-one for Cody as well,” Slot added.
“Against a 5-4-1 away from home, with the midfielders we played and one attacker, you can’t expect chance after chance.
“Overall, we created enough to win and limited them to maybe one or one-and-a-half chances, but football is about the result, and it finished 2-2.”
Liverpool return to London on Thursday to face league leaders Arsenal at the Emirates.
