AYR
Race 3 No1 FIFTY SENT (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
A change of stables has benefitted FIFTY SENT, who placed on debut for his handler at Newcastle before gaining a narrow margin victory at the same venue last month. The four-year-old is back on turf but has shown he’s just as adept on it, while he should have a bit more to offer.
THIRSK
Race 5 No5 FOLK STAR (Each Way)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
Le Havre filly FOLK STAR should enjoy a significant move up the distance ladder on her handicap bow, and not too much attention paid to her underwhelming efforts over a mile as a juvenile and on her return to action. This Class 5 is not the hottest of contests, and granted progression as she stretches out she can get into the shake-up.
Race 6 No9 VISITANT
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: William Pyle
VISITANT has a happy knack of taking home a cheque although it’s well over a year since the veteran’s last success. He’s therefore a good card to play in place doubles, trebles and accumulators, and from a plum draw can get into the money again.
WINDSOR
Race 6 No4 GEARING’S POINT (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Rose Dawes
GEARING’S POINT has reaped the benefit of a move to West Sussex with a Lingfield success followed by a solid earning run at Windsor where she lost out in a blanket three-way finish. The five-year-old now teams up with the capable Dawes for the first time, and the combination can reap further dividends.
Race 7 No5 TRAIS FLUORS (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charlie Bennett
This is a good opportunity for TRAIS FLUORS to end a long wait for success that’s lasted almost two seasons. A former Group winner in France who ran at the Breeders’ Cup, he signalled when third in an apprentices’ race at Newbury that he’s on the cusp of a return to form. The addition of cheekpieces appeared to benefit him, and the headgear is retained.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 3 No10 MOTHER MARGARET (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
MOTHER MARGARET brings strong Newbury form to the table in this fillies’ maiden and as she will be more streetwise it’s logical to stay in her corner. The beautifully-bred daughter of Kingman out of a Sea The Stars mare should prevail unless newcomer Queen Of Sparta is a bit special, and that one needs checking for a market move.
Race 6 No1 DANZART
Trainer: Stella Barclay – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
DANZART has come out of the wilderness to post back-to-back triumphs, the latest gained with plenty to spare at Redcar. Murphy is an eye-taking booking for the gelding, who can now complete a fine hat-trick under a 5lb penalty.
Race 7 No4 EASTER ICON (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
EASTER ICON doesn’t do anything in a hurry and was disappointing on his latest start. However, should the chestnut get a good gallop to aim at he can bounce back and get into the money.
