YARMOUTH

Race 8 No1 SPANISH MANE (Nap)
Trainer: Julia Feilden – Jockey: Rose Dawes

Saving the best until last is the instruction on this difficult card for bettors. That opportunity can present itself with SPANISH MANE, who signalled with a second to Tashkeer over this course and distance last time that she’s on the cusp of a return to winning ways. The mare will receive good assistance from the saddle from an apprentice that knows her well.

AYR

Race 3 No3 CRYSTAL CAPRICE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

CRYSTAL CAPRICE had worked well ahead of her disappointing return to action at Yarmouth and needs to be given a chance to show the form to be all wrong. She has it to do with Pink Carnation on the evidence of that run, but with her stable firing in the winners, she can bounce back.

Race 5 No8 SIXCOR
Trainer: Linda Perrett – Jockey: Joe Fanning

SIXCOR usually needs a race to bring him to the boil, and off bottom weight, the five-year-old will be all the better for his seasonal return here at the start of the month. He’s a triple winner at this course and has to be taken seriously.

Race 6 No1 MORNING SUN (Nap)
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Billy Garritty

MORNING SUN is a bet I’m looking forward to in this Class 4 handicap. Under front running tactics he decimated his field over the course and distance two weeks ago and remains open to further improvement on only a third outing for his trainer.

WARWICK

Race 2 No2 HIM MALAYA
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Harry Cobden

HIM MALAYA looked to improve for a step into a handicap when staying on runner-up to ZUCAYAN at Ludlow. He’s the one to beat on the strength of that evidence and can cash in for his top connections.

Race 5 No1 SAINT CALVADOS (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Harry Cobden

An in-form SANT CALVADOS would outclass this field, and with Cobden reinvigorating the front runner into a narrow defeat at Ayr the top weight can deliver on a first visit to this course since he took out the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase back in 2018. He remains a powerful entity when things go his way, a scenario that can manifest itself in the featured handicap chase.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No3 JAYTEE (Nap)
Trainer: Ian Williams – Jockey: Brian Hughes

JAYTEE came within an ace of scoring over fences for the first time in more than a year when beaten in a photo here last week. He’s responded positively to the fitting of cheekpieces, and in an almost carbon copy situation can go be better.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No9 SPARKLIGHT (Nap)
Trainer: Eve Johnson Houghton – Jockey: Charles Bishop

SPARKLIGHT takes the best form to the table for this novice run round a right-handed bend, having chased home Heed The a call on her debut here earlier in the month. The daughter of Cable Bay is well-drawn, and entitled to be more streetwise and open her account.

Race 6 No2 SOLAR ORBITER
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: David Egan

SOLAR ORBITER is easily the most alluring proposition in this all-aged handicap based on his unbeaten record for top connections. The son of Showcasing attracted heavy support for each of his two winning visits here last September, and having been given plenty of time to strengthen up should have more to offer.
