26/07/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

26/07/2022

Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s race meetings at Glorious Goodwood, Yarmouth, Beverly and Worcester on 26/07/2022.

GLORIOUS GOODWOOD – 26/07/2022

Race 1 No14 JUST FINE (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

JUST FINE has acquitted himself well to a point in big handicaps at Royal Ascot and York, where he was beaten only just over three lengths by Anmaat in the John Smith’s Cup.

He possibly didn’t stay on the first occasion, but remains at his optimum trip of a mile and a quarter. He’s been in very good form at home and is drawn to obtain a nice position to stalk the leaders into the straight.

If achieving that he can put in a big earning run, with top weight WEST END CHARMER, who likes this course, another to put into exotic permutations along with CARADOC and local hope SOTO SIZZLER.

Prediction: 1st JUST FINE, 2nd West End Charmer, 3rd CARADOC, 4th Soto Sizzler

Race 2 Japan Racing Association Vintage Stakes (Group 2)
No3 DEAR MY FRIEND
Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Franny Norton

Johnston saddles two unbeaten colts in this red hot Group 2 and the man with an exemplary record at the track could see them dominate affairs, with DEAR MY FRIEND preferred to DORNOCH CASTLE.

Dear My Friend attracted a bundle of support and duly hacked on on second start at Beverley, while Dornoch Castle didn’t have to come out of second gear to justify the long odds laid on him at Ayr.

HOLLOWAY BOY is another unbeaten candidate that could assist an all Yorkshire finish, but Godolphin’s MYSTERIOUS NIGHT needs respecting and looks destined for a slice of the action following his creditable third to Persian Force in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

Prediction: 1st DEAR MY FRIEND, 2nd Dornoch Castle, 3rd a mysterious Night, 4th Holloway Boy

Race 3 World Pool Lennox Stakes (Group 2)
No7 SACRED
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

This is as tricky a puzzle to unfathom as several recent runnings of this race.

High class seven furlongs specialists are thin on the ground, but SACRED could be one to light up the board on only her second outing of the season.

Last season’s Hungerford Stakes winner went down by a combined margin of a length when fifth in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes and that Royal Ascot form has been shown to be rock solid.

If it has blown away any lurking cobwebs the Exceed And Excel filly has a great chance to get back to winning ways back at her optimum trip.

LUSAIL has made a good fist of matching it with class foes such as Perfect Power, Coroebus and Tenebrism this year and in what is a class drop can take home a cheque.

This pair could dominate, though POGO has looked better than ever this year, and should also enter calculations.

Prediction: 1st SACRED, 2nd Lusail, 3rd Pogo

Race 4 AL SHAQAB GOODWOOD CUP (Group 1)
No6 STRADIVARIUS
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

Anyone who thought the game was up for STRADIVARIUS should be made to eat their words when the great champion returns for an attempt to win an unprecedented fifth victory in this historic first day highlight.

The now eight-year-old’s controversial ride in the Gold Cup at Ascot has ultimately seen Frankie Dettori being forced to sever his association with the chestnut.

Atzeni needs to stay cool as he moves into the hot seat, but the Sardinian was on board for the gelding’s first two triumphs in this, and has also won a Group 2 at Ascot on him.

KYPRIOS was the one to take advantage of proceedings in the Gold Cup and rates the chief threat to Stradivarius by far, granted that TRUESHAN will probably not run unless it rains.

COLTRANE is a fast improver, but one that needs putting into all combinations is PRINCESS ZOE, who is far better than her Gold Cup run indicates.

Prediction: 1st STRADIVARIUS, 2nd Kyprios, 3rd Princess Zoe

Race 5 No6 CELSIUS
Trainer: Tom Clover – Jockey: Jack Mitchell

This sprint handicap gives upwardly mobile CELSIUS a fine chance to complete a hat-trick.

The chestnut has looked a different horse since returning to the track in the spring, scoring easily as Ascot and Newmarket.

He has his tail up and can complete a fine hat-trick at the main expense of RAYONG, whose trainer does well with his runners at the meeting and can improve on the form he produced on his only previous visit to this track.

Race 6 No11 MASTER OF CHANT (Each Way)
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Dougie Costello

In a wide open heat MASTER OF CHANT could be the one to bring his A-game to the table and open his account.

The grey was an unconsidered roughie when making Priors Dell pull out all the stops on debut at Newbury, but he’s delighted his trainer in subsequent work and can now show it was no fluke.

SUPREME KING and MISCHIEF MAGIC both shaped in an equally promising fashion on their first outings, and can again trouble the judge.

Race 7 No6 CRYSTAL CAPRICE (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

The beautifully-bred CRYSTAL CAPRICE has no alternative than to go forward from her draw against the fence, which could be the best move to make.

Staying out of trouble is a large part of the keynote to success here, and this lightly-raced daughter of Frankel could prove very hard to reel in.

She didn’t have to beat anything of note when opening her account at Yarmouth, but with her confidence on a high has far more scope for progression than her rivals, and could have been underestimated by the assessor.

Race 8 No10 MAKAROVA
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

Acclamation filly MAKAROVA was denied in a head bob at Newbury and had previously taken out back-to-back handicaps at Salisbury, which is a not dissimilar track to Goodwood in terms of its undulations. She needs respecting, and can have the whip hand over Kimngrace and Kidwah.

YARMOUTH – 16/07/2022

Race 2 No3 CAERNARFON (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

There isn’t much of CAERNARFON, but she’s an athletic filly and could have learned a bundle from her staying on effort on debut at Newbury. The close relative of Dan’s Dream can give previous winner Wahaaj plenty to think about.

Race 5 No9 LARK LANE
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Saffie Osborne

LARK LANE looked unlucky to be mugged in the last couple of stories at Leicester. He’s taken those exertions in his stride and can open his account.

BEVERLEY – 26/07/2022

Race 1 No3 BIT OF A QUIRKE (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Walford – Jockey: Natalya Irvine

BIT OF A QUIRKE did us a good turn when scoring at Leicester last week but this is his favourite hunting ground. He’s in the mood to make this a first success here since 2019, and to defy a penalty.

WORCESTER – 26/07/2022

Race 1 No1 CHESS PLAYER
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Kielan Woods

CHESS PLAYER is a long-standing maiden but though worried out of it on his last couple of starts he can gain a deserved success on this belated chase debut.

Race 5 a No2 CALL ME TARA (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

CALL ME TARA has knocked on the door with four earning runs in bumpers from as many starts. The Kayf Tara mare jumps well, and for a yard that’s in irresistible form should open her account.
