AYR – 18/07/2022
Race 4 No4 MONHAMMER
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Donal Nolan
This is best left to the consistent MONHAMMER, who improved in first time cheek pieces to post a best run of the season at Carlisle. As long as the four-year-old can overcome his apparent dislike of this track, where on two visits he’s underwhelmed, he can be competitive.
Race 7 No3 UNDER FOX (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
With a sequence of nine straight earning runs behind him, UNDER FOX is edging towards a first triumph of the season and has plenty going for him in this tricky nightcap. The blinkered gelding should enjoy cutting back on the distance ladder, after failing to get home on his latest outing over a mile and a quarter.
CARTMEL – 18/07/2022
Race 1 No7 STAR VANTAGE
Trainer: George Bewley – Jockey: Conor O’Farrell
STAR VANTAGE has shown sufficient ability in three bumper runs to suggest he can make an immediate mark now switched to hurdling. The five-year-old improved for the fitting of a hood to chase home Fenna’s Loss when returning from a long break at Hexham, and can improve on that to open his account.
Race 5 No1 SIR TIVO (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Hanmer – Jockey: Kevin Brogan
Bold front runner SIR TIVO is a winner of seven of his last 13 starts, all over fences, and has a great chance to add to that tally on a first visit to Cartmel. He was a game scorer at Stratford last time, and although Lermoos Legend poses a real threat he should prove very hard to catch.
Race 6 No3 DEE STAR
Trainer: Gary Hanmer – Jockey: Kevin Brian
The same trainer/jockey combo look to hold the key to this long distance handicap chase with DEE STAR. The nine-year-old races for a fourth time is succession at this specialist track, having post figures of 122 through the spring and early summer. He’s in a good spot mentally to prevent Larry Looby from completing a hat- trick.
