12/04/2022 – Tuesday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s British meetings at Newmarket, Ayr and Wolverhampton on 12/04/2022.

NEWMARKET – 12/04/2022

Race 4 bet365 Earl Of Sefton Stakes (Group 3)
No6 MASTER OF THE SEAS
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

MASTER OF THE SEAS has notched all three of his career successes at 5his course, latterly in the Craven Stakes 12 months ago. His stable have a good record at this meeting, and the Dubawi gelding is primed to deliver on this return to the fray.

Race 5 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3)
No4 FLASH BETTY (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa

This might be the most hotly contested renewal of this 1,000 Guineas trial and the one to cash in is FLASH BETTY. The daughter of Gregorian is a real rags to riches story, having contested three sellers last summer, and improved in leaps and bounds to finish second to Kawida in the Listed Montrose Stakes here last October. She almost posted an 80-1 shocker and is ready for this seasonal return.

Race 7 No2 ISRAR (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Jim Crowley

ISRAR should be a bet worth waiting for in this three-year-old only handicap. The son of Muhaarar and Oaks and King George heroine Taghrooda overcame greenness to score on his introduction at Doncaster in September before finding only Wind Your Neck In too strong in a warmly contested Salisbury novice. He’s something to look forward to, and can turn the tables on that foe.

AYR – 12/04/2022

Race 3 No5 DESTINY IS ALL
Trainer: Lucinda Russell – Jockey: Derek Fox

DESTINY IS ALL has a consistent earning record over fences and should be buoyed up by a convincing first chase win when landing some good bets here last month. With two near misses and a fall in his previous outings this season, the triumph should have provided a significant confidence boost.

Race 4 No7 HIDDEN COMMANDER (Nap)
Trainer: William Coltherd – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

HIDDEN COMMANDER was hugely impressive when scoring on chase debut at Kelso on only a second start for his shrewd trainer. The seven-year-old is completely unexposed, has plenty more to give and can make light of his 7lb penalty.

Race 6 No1 WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (Each Way)
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Fergus Gregory

WALKONTHEWILDSIDE underwhelmed on his handicap bow at Fontwell but might prove a different kettle of fish on this galloping track. He jumped beautifully until grabbed turning for home, and will benefit from today’s move up to three miles. A generous pace would also assist his cause.

Race 7 No1 GEROMINO
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

GERONIMO looked a total natural for chasing when dotting up on his debut over fences at Carlisle. His accurate jumping and smart turn of foot should serve him well against sole rival Douglas Talking.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 12/04/2022

Race 1 No3 WAY OF LIFE (Nap)
Trainer: Jonny Portman – Jockey: Jack Mitchell

Although done no favours by a high draw, WAY OF LIFE remains strongly fancied to complete a hat-trick now back from a more than three month break. He shone at this track when initiating his spree in November, and as long as enjoying the rub of the green in running has a good chance of taking this out.
