GOODWOOD

Race 1 No6 MR FREEDOM (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Marc Goldstein

Locally trained MR FREEDOM has troubled the judge in a couple of well contested races this autumn including a Salisbury race In which he was doing his best work at the finish. The dual purpose performer notched his last career victory at this course two years ago, and can outrun his price before going back over hurdles.

Race 4 No14 FROM THE HIP (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: Tyler Heard

FROM THE HIP ran a stormer after proving easy to back at Kempton last week, breaking well and only being denied in the final strides. He should progress from that first run back from a break, and is one I expect to go well as long as it doesn’t come too soon for him.

Race 5 No3 IRON CURTAIN (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch

IRON CURTAIN showed that he knew his job when narrowly denied on Salisbury debut on soft ground. The Churchill colt will relish the underfoot conditions today, and poses a serious threat to paper favourite ROYAL ACCLAMATION.

Race 6 No4 URBAN LION (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex

URBAN LION was never sighted in the Cambridgeshire but is undoubtedly a horse that resides on a handy mark, should he find the form showed when winning the Lincoln. While he has become risky, I shall back him to stage a revival from a plum draw from which he could enjoy a nice sit behind the early leaders.

CHEPSTOW

Race 4 No5 WEST ORCHARD
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Freddie Gingell

Though dropping below his optimum trip, WEST ORCHARD takes the eye returning from a wide margin Fontwell success when last seen in the spring. He doesn’t take much getting ready, and is fancied to follow up.

Race 5 No4 LEADER CRIK (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

LEADER CRIK is a well regarded part of the Grange Farm team and a horse to follow this season. His Doncaster success has worked out especially well making this opening mark of 128 look entirely workable.

Race 6 No7 WELSH CHARGER
Trainer: Alistair Ralph – Jockey: Jonathan Burke

At a big working man’s price WELSH CHARGER a can go well. He’s rubbed shoulders with some of the top handicap hurdlers and contested races like the Scottish Champion Hurdle. While not able to get into the shake up at Ayr he’s now in far calmer waters, and his trainer adds cheek pieces.
