WINDSOR
Race 1 No11 HAVANA HALO (Each Way)
Traner: Dominic Ffrench Davis – Jockey: Ben Ffrench Davis
HAVANA HALO has been a work in progress, but after a career best to finish second over course and distance last time can reward her Wantage owners by putting a first success on her CV.
Race 2 No14 ROMOTOSO
Trainer: William Knight – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
ROMOTOSO brings the best form to the table after troubling the judge at Doncaster and Lingfield. With the champ in her irons the daughter of Lope Y Fernandez should open her account.
Race 3 No14 DEVON ANGEL
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Connor Planas
DEVON ANGEL went down in a picture finish at Chepstow where she was gaining on the winner. The 200 metres longer trip should therefore be to her advantage today, on her best winning chance so far.
Race 5 WEATHERBYS GLOBAL STALLIONS APP WINTER HILL STAKES (Group 3)
No3 CREST OF FIRE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
Windsor’s marquee race of the season can see an upset with CREST OF FIRE fancied to take the step from handicaps in his stride. The grey did a Houdini act to find the necessary gaps to pounce late on his latest start at Goodwood and has worked well subsequently. MORRIS DANCER proved costly when going out like a light at the Newmarket July meeting but it could be unwise to write off John Gosden’s colt, who can show that to be all wrong. Irish Derby fourth RAAHEEB is unexposed, and as that was his first career defeat he needs to be taken seriously as a worthy favourite.
Race 6 No1 WITHOUT PREJUDICE (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: William Buick
With a visually taking success at Newmarket on her first start, WITHOUT PREJUDICE returns to the track carrying bundles of potential. The Starman filly can make light of her penalty in this novice, and remain unbeaten.
NEWTON ABBOT
Race 2 No1 CRYSTAL MARINER (Nap)
Trainer: Shark Hanlon – Jockey: Paddy Hanlon
Hanlon brings a handful of runners to the Devon course of which CRYSTAL MARINER can prove the pick. The chestnut made an encouraging first start over jumps when second at Ballinrobe, and should parry the challenge of EXPLODE.
Race 7 No2 DEVON RED
Trainer: Nicky Henderson Schofield – Jockey: J M Quinlan
DEVON RED has earned on both starts since returning from an enforced break and looks the right one to be on for this first run in a handicap. Today’s slightly longer trip should play to his strengths in his clash with MOTHER SHIP.
PERTH
Race 4 No3 NO REGRETS (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
Although well into the veteran stage, NO REGRETS has demonstrated with a recent win and second at Hexham that he’s retained a lot of his old ability. He makes sense as the only bet on the card, and as the only runner from his stable.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 2 No6 CRYSTAL KRAKEN
Trainer: Dylan Cunha – Jockey: Jack Doughty
A high draw is a source of worry for CRYSTAL KRAKEN, but if the filly gets a good clean break she can avenge last week’s Chepstow defeat where her pilot made the mistake of thinking the freshest ground was on the far side. Her fate was therefore sealed early, but she has the ability to bounce back on this return to the AW.
Race 7 No5 KNIGHTS GOLD (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Ward – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
KNIGHTS GOLD and Loughnane look a combination worth waiting for in the nightcap. The Nap was having only a second outing for his trainer at Brighton, and though 5lb higher is going to greatly benefit from having the tile race leader in his saddle.
