BRIGHTON

Race 4 No5 DORA VITA (Each Way)

Trainer: Richard Phillips – Jockey: S D Bowen

At a big double figure price it might be worth a small speculative investment on DORA VITA, who with just one run under her belt on grass has more scope for progression on that surface than her shorter priced foes.

Race 5 No6 KING OF WAR (Nap)

Trainer: Michael Wigham – Jockey: John Egan

Wigham and Egan probably have more racing experience between them that the combined amounts of the other trainers and jockeys in this race put together. KING OF WAR didn’t get the trip on this course the other day but it’s very interesting that he’s 7lb under his last winning mark.

Race 6 No2 HAVANA MOJITO

Trainer: John Gallagher – Jockey: Luke Morris

HAVANA MOJITO went down by just a neck here a month ago and can build on that for a trainer adept with his sprinters at this course. The selection can turn the tables on his conqueror AIM FOR THE BULL at the revised weighs.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 1 No8 WARBY

Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

Good to see the Valmont colours racing out of Great Habton and I shall keep an eye on WARBY, who is a speedily bred individual breaking from the favoured rail on debut. Interesting to know if he’s named after Bill Warby, I bet he is.

Race 2 No3 POLKA (Nap)

Trainer: Julie Camacho – Jockey: Rowan Scott

Territories filly POLKA  has a low mileage on the gage and on her latest start enjoyed stepping back in trip to get home in a desperate finish at Newcastle. She’s returning from a break, while her opening mark of 69 does not look daunting.

Race 3 No6 LONG SHOT

Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

LONG SHOT has troubled the judge in three of his four outings this season but became lit up by first time blinkers and didn’t get home over 1400 metres at Redcar. He’s now back at his optimum shorter trip with cheek pieces fitted in a change of headgear, and is entitled to go close.

Race 6 No7 BLUE JAY WAY (Each Way)

Trainer: John Riches – Jockey: Mikkel Mortensen

Riches makes it tricky running RAIN CAP as well as BLUE JAY WAY and I prefer the latter, who though having the worst of the draw is going to be more effective moved from 1000 metres up to 1400 metres. He’s a bigger price than his stablemate, who was never a factor at Carlisle and might find this coming too quick for him.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 4 No5 GEMINI MAN (Nap)

Trainer: Iaine Jardine – Jockey: Andrew Mullen

GEMINI MAN bagged a Classified last time to make it two wins from three starts this season. Although he’s more adept on the all-weather he has won over hurdles, and should enjoy this return to grass in which he can back up his Newcastle triumph.

Race 5 No9 SIXCOR (Each Way)

Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Tom Kiely-Marshall

SIXCOR might not have troubled the judge in his three 2026 outings but he is getting closer, as a good effort over course and distance last time backs up. He’s temptingly priced and it was around this time of year that he posted his latest success at Hamilton.

WINDSOR

Race 1 No6 CAPE TORONADA ( Nap)

Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Matthew Slater

The best bet on this card is CAPE TORONADA, who has improved from race to race this season, and on a fourth start put in a career best to score at Brighton. He competes from 6lb higher, but has the room for progression required to make it back to back successes.

Race 7 No5 TAKEITORLEAVEIT

Trainer: Jonny Portman – Jockey: Rob Hornby

TAKEITORLEAVEIT has posted his best efforts with ease in the ground, but after a near miss in the soft at Lingfield he can show by going one better that he can cope with a faster surface.
