NEWBURY
Race 2 No2 SYDNEY ROCK ( Each Way)
Trainer: Oliver Cole – Jockey: David Probert
Australia filly SYDNEY ROCK is all about stamina, and should greatly appreciate her first crack at the 1600 metres distance on handicap debut. She finished second on each of her three starts as a juvenile but has done well physically, and can enjoy a bountiful season.
Race 4 No2 JUSTCALLMEPETE
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Dougie Costello
The in form JUSTCALLMEPETE is a 12 times winner who though scraping home at Windsor last time has the tenacity required to follow-up as the probable favourite in this open sprint.
Race 6 No1 MYTHICAL BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Baldng – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
MYTHICAL BAY can prove the pick of Balding’s two runners in the nightcap, although his stablemate HARD TO BELIEVE can’t be ruled out. The Nap is a long striding individual who frequently attracts support. He tried to go from the front only to be collared late at Wolverhampton, but back on turf and on a galloping track I suspect his pilot will adopt different tactics, and give him a chance.
NOTTINGHAM
Race 2 No1 DECADE OF TIME (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
Channon has been selective with his runners this month but most of them have run well. Jellystone Park was an apt scorer at Leicester earlier in the week and the trainer has another big chance in this novice with DECADE OF TIME. The Study Of Man colt opened his account in willing fashion, and though a 7lb penalty doesn’t make life any easier he’s progressed for that, while the race has cut up favourably for him.
Race 4 No6 FAIRYDALE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman
FAIRYDALE lacks gears, but though last of three showed a bit more when raised in trip at Redcar. She’s got a chance of being in the money at a big price in this stayers’ handicap to make her worth a small speculative investment.
Race 6 No5 RAMBUSO CREEK
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: C Whiteley
RAMBUSO CREEK takes a class drop and should get into the shake-up if able to exploit a tumbling mark on this switch to turf in what could be a weak affair.
YARMOUTH
Race 1 No6 HERETIC
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Jake Dickson
THERES plenty to like about HERETIC, who on his latest start showed he can handle the grass surface, and who competes from a mark 5lb lower than his last winning one. He likes to get on with things, and if leading without being pressured could prove hard to catch.
Race 2 No7 UPPER HENDERSYDE
Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam – Jockey: Zac Lloyd
Lloyd was blooded for his riding stint here when successful on a horse who was the gamble of the day at Doncaster on Saturday. Happily we were in on that act and can benefit from the Australian ace again as he teams up with compatriot Chapple-Hyam on UPPER HENDERSYDE. The selection shaped well when second behind a more experienced foe on debut at Salisbury and has learned plenty from it.
Race 5 No2 PATROL (Nap)
Trainer: Dylan Cunha – Jockey: Zac Lloyd
The man from Down Under should again be on the mark on South African-trained PATROL, who would be the most deserving of winners. The Nap chased home Yokohama at Newbury last time, and although higher in the weights should turn the tables on that rival.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 2 No1 NURSIA (Nap)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Kevin Stott
NURSIA found a useful change of gear when having to be switched round opponents on his first run of the year at Newcastle. He landed some good bets in the process and has strong claims to defy his penalty.
Race 5 No3 BAILEYS KHELSTAR
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Jason Hart
BAILEYS KHELSTAR belied his place as the outsider in the field when second to a short priced favourite at Newbury. After being overhauled he fought back well, in a run that gives every indication that he’s ready to pop.
WORCESTER
Race 2 No2 BAGHEERA GINGE
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
BAGHEERA GINGE returned from a long absence to jump his rivals silly from the front at Stratford. He enjoyed the shorter trip there, and though 4lb higher has strong claims to follow up.
Race 4 No7 SHAMSAT (Nap)
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Brendan Powell
Former French trained SHAMSAT had winning form there and put in a most encouraging first run under Rules when finishing second at this course, with Premier Tenor one place behind him. He’s benefitted from that experience, and can confirm his superiority.
Race 8 No5 KITTY’S GLANCE
Trainer: Alan King – Jocķey: Thomas Bellamy
KITTY’S GLANCE finished second on her return from a break in a race that’s been boosted. With so few miles on her racing clock she offers up plenty of encouragement to be a bet in her first handicap assignment.
