NEWTON ABBOT

Race 3 No3 BLACKJACK MAGIC (Nap)
Trainer: Anthony Honeyball – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

A change of headgear could assist BLACKJACK MAGIC to success in this long distance handicap chase. The veteran ran too freely when equipped with a visor but his trainer replaces that with blinkers while also adding a tongue tie. He doesn’t have many miles on his clock, and can win this competing from a mark that’s below his last winning one.

Race 5 No4 ELLERTON
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell

ELLERTON was well ridden when delivering on his first run back, with his jockey anticipating a pace collapse that materialised. It was his first run since the early winter, and he can follow-up if avoiding the ‘bounce’ factor.

BEVERLEY

Race 3 No1 WOODSTOCK (Nap)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Joanna Mason

WOODSTOCK might have gone close on his recent run at Thirsk had his rider chosen to avoid the temptation of waiting for a gap up the rail, which ultimately the gelding didn’t fancy taking. That podium finish was another step in the right direction for the six-year-old, who is a winner waiting to happen.

Race 7 No8 AMERJEET (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Jake Dickson

AMERJEET isn’t an obvious answer to this low grade handicap, but is better than his form figures indicate and more than capable of popping up at a price should things go his way. He’s a speculative advice, with a small investment probably the wisest move.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 4 No4 SHIPSHAPE
Trainer: Robbie Llewellyn – Jockey: Connor Beasley

SHIPSHAPE is going through a rich vein of form in the short time he’s been with Llewellyn. A Southwell success is sandwiched between near misses at Wolverhampton and Thirsk, and having shown his effectiveness on grass he can keep up the good work.

Race 6 a No3 PORTH EILIAN (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell- Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

Very little splits the three runners in the betting although it’s unlikely that PORTH EILIAN will start favourite. In favour of the Palace Pier filly is that she’s the least exposed of the trio, and open to progression now in a handicap and racing over a longer trip.

CARTMEL

Race 3 No7 LOWLANDS (Nap)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin

LOWLANDS broke her duck as a jumper when moved up in trip and afforded an enterprising ride at Perth. The ultra consistent mare looks the form pick on that evidence and can win again.

Race 4 No5 I AM SPIDER MAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Barry Murphy – Jockey: James Bowen

While EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN won well here on Monday there could be better value in I AM SPIDER MAN who is doing well for his new trainer. He posted near misses at Newton Abbot and Hereford earlier this month, and would be a deserving winner for rookie trainer Murphy.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No4 MOONRISE
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Balding saddles some interesting newcomers at this meeting of whom MOONRISE can prove one of the best. The Churchill filly has the champ doing the steering and can shrug aside her inexperience to take the spoils.

Race 5 No3 WATER TO WINE (Nap)
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Ryan Moore

WATER TO WINE ran out the smoothest of scorers on his Newbury debut and then skipped a trial at Chester. The son of Kingman looks his trainer’s main arrow in this very interesting novice and can book his ticket for Royal Ascot. His unraced stablemate HUMPHREY can form the flip side of the exacta.

Race 6 No3 YA KARIM
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

The colours of YA KARIM were successful via Hand Of God recently and can visit the winners’ circle again via this handicap debutant who though a tad disappointing at Yarmouth qualified for a market move with his run, and could prove a different proposition altogether.
