NEWMARKET

Race 4 BETFRED 1000 GUINEAS (Group 1)

No9 PRECISE (Nap)
Trainer: Aidan O’Brien – Jockey: Ryan Moore

The second domestic Classic has a stronger look to it than yesterday’s 2,000 Guineas with Coolmore having a potentially vice like hold on the contest. PRECISE and TRUE LOVE are both Group 1 winners with CVs that are hard to fault and making them difficult to split. PRECISE looked the real deal in 2025 as she rattled off an impressive four timer that culminated in a stirring success over this course and distance in the Fillies’ Mile. She looked banker material for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf only to be ruled out on the day of the Del Mar race by a minor issue. TRUE LOVE has the advantage of a recent winning run in a Group 3 at Leopardstown in which she was fully in control at the business end. She burned them off in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on her penultimate 2025 outing and had no trouble with the step up in trip for her recent triumph. VENETIAN SUN had no answer to Precise in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh last September which brought to an end her unbeaten record. There are good reports emanating from Middleham for Karl Burke’s filly, but on the evidence of the book she has something to find. A longer priced player is Godolphin’s ABASHIRI, who hosed up on her debut on Kempton’s Polytrack, making her a filly of some potential.

Prediction: 1st PRECISE, 2nd True Love, 3rd Venetian Sun, 4th Abashiri

Race 6 No7 THE DANCING PIRATE
Traner: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

There’s little to go on form wise in this interesting juvenile contest, but THE DANCING PIRATE represents a potentially potent rookie stallion in Blackbeard and is out of a mare that won at Pattern level and hails from a super quick family. The home bred selection is also in the right hands to enjoy a bountiful first season, with a market check strongly recommended.

SALISBURY

Race 5 No6 SIAM RUBY (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Edward Greatrex

SIAM RUBY is 4lb higher than for a dominating display at Wolverhampton and will have no problems with the trip. The daughter of Australia has posted both her successes on the all-weather but can show she’s just as capable of grass to take the spoils in the silks of King Power Racing.

Race 6 No3 RANGA TANG
Trainer: James Owen – Jockey: Cieren Fallon

RANGA TANG shaped well to trouble the judge on his first run in handicap company at Newmarket. The rangy individual went down in a blanket finish and has come on for it, making him a solid choice to gain a deserving first success.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 2 No3 GALYX
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

One that I’m looking forward to this season is GALYX. He’s not been without his issues, but equally today’s longer trip is just what he wants. Cut in the ground is another plus, and although rain isn’t forecast the gelding should handle these conditions to make light of his more than 300 day absence.

Race 7 No8 ALPINE SIERRA (Nap)
Trainer: Jim Goldie – Jockey: Lauren Young

At the end of play ALPINE SIERRA brings very strong credentials to the table and is strongly fancied to end a frustrating sequence of near misses. Fully 10lb below his last winning mark, his apprentice rider knows him and is good value for the further 5lb she will take off his back.
