Trailing 2-0 from the first leg, Flick remained defiant and clear in his message. “I believe in my team and that we can do it. Why not?” he said ahead of Tuesday night’s decisive clash.
The German coach pointed to belief and togetherness as key factors if Barcelona were to turn the tie around. He made it clear that moments, not just talent, would decide the outcome. “We need to play as a team. Individual brilliance is not enough,” Flick explained. “Both sides have great players, and these matches are decided by moments.”
Flick reserved special praise for Lamine Yamal, highlighting the youngster’s attacking threat. “Right now, he is the best in the world in one-on-one situations,” he said, before reinforcing that the collective effort would be crucial.
The Barcelona manager stressed the importance of taking chances and managing key details. “You have to take your opportunities. Cards, set pieces, small decisions – everything matters. Maybe this time those moments will fall our way,” he added.
Flick also pointed to mentality and fan support as driving forces behind their push for a comeback. “The connection between the fans and the players is incredible. That gives us strength,” he said.
Looking ahead to the challenge, he expected a demanding encounter in a hostile atmosphere. “It will be intense. Atletico are very dangerous, especially in attack. We must defend well but also be brave.”
