Luis Enrique wants PSG to take nothing for granted as they prepare to face Liverpool tonight at Anfield in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.
PSG travel to England with a 2-0 advantage after a dominant first-leg performance in Paris, where Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored, while Liverpool failed to register a shot on target.
Despite that control, Enrique made it clear the tie was far from over.
“You need to be really careful – it could be a trap,” he said. “People say we were much better, but football changes very quickly. If they score early, the game is open again.”
The PSG manager insisted his side would not defend their lead but instead look to finish the job.
“We will go out to win the game, like always,” he said. “They will attack, and we will face difficulties. It won’t be easy – this will still be a tight match.”
Anfield’s famous atmosphere is expected to play a major role, but Enrique believes his players will use it as motivation.
“We know how difficult it is to play here, but it inspires us. We want to play our football and win.”
There was a timely boost for PSG with the return of Bradley Barcola after an ankle injury, although Enrique suggested the winger’s involvement would depend on his fitness.
“We’ll see after training. It’s always good to have players back, but we need to check how he feels.”
Midfielder Fabian Ruiz remained unavailable, though he has returned to training.
Defender Achraf Hakimi said PSG’s previous success at Anfield gave them belief.
“We know the atmosphere will be incredible,” Hakimi said. “But we’ve experienced it before, and that gives us confidence to manage the game.”
With a semi-final place on the line tonight, PSG know one thing for certain – against Liverpool, the job is never done until the final whistle.
