Horner, who had been at the helm of Red Bull since its entry into Formula 1, was axed from his position as team principal on 9 July.

He officially severed ties with the Milton Keynes squad on 22 September and has since entered a period of gardening leave.

Reports have already linked the 50-year-old with several potential destinations, including Ferrari, Alpine, Haas, Cadillac, and Aston Martin.

His reputation as one of the most successful leaders in modern F1, having overseen multiple championship triumphs, has ensured his availability has attracted attention across the grid.

When asked about the rumours, Cowell stopped short of ruling out interest in Horner, stating only that Aston Martin are focused on strengthening the team.

“Christian’s taking some time out isn’t he at the moment,” said Cowell.

“He’s probably enjoying time with friends and family. He loves this sport, though. And I wish him well with whatever he ends up doing in the future.”

The timing of the speculation, coming just before this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, has heightened intrigue within the paddock.

Although Horner’s contractual leave restricts him from immediately joining a rival, reports suggest he could be in line for a return early next season.
