England v Japan
Sunday 17 September
Allianz Riviera, Nice

England 1/25 | Draw 40/1 | Japan 8/1

England have assumed control of Pool D thanks to their comfortable 27-10 win over Los Pumas in Marseille and victories in their remaining pool games will see them finish top.

Despite Tom Curry becoming the third Englishman in a month to receive a citing after he was handed a two-match ban for his red card in round one, Steve Borthwick should still have enough quality in depth to see off the rest of the side’s pool opponents over the next few weeks.

Japan have arrived at the tournament with very little momentum behind them and looked pretty average in Toulouse against competition debutants Chile despite coming away with a 42-12 win. They won’t have the game to challenge England for the full eighty here.

Verdict: Japan (+22.5) 17/20
