He will strip much fitter and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

SOUTHERN BLAZE won a good race in his last start over 1450m on this course. He was settled near the rear of the field and ran on powerfully at the business end. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. He takes a slight drop in class and should follow up.

SMITH AND WESSON was touched off in his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. He raced from just off the pace, moved up well but found one too good in the form of Good Queen Bess. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of The United States takes a drop in class and he can go one better.
