Race 4

HEADWALL is two for two, winning over five furlongs on debut and then by a half length next time out over the same sprint trip and could be just about anything. He returns from a 26 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest to showcase his well-being. The gelding has a handy draw four and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

LASCARS won over five furlongs three runs back, finished fifth in his penultimate start over six furlongs and then sixth last time out over five furlongs, three and a half lengths behind the winner. He stayed on well that day and the form of that race has been franked. He has his first run after a shorter fifteen week rest, but has had the two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. From one gate inside the top choice, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the former.

LATENIGHTTOUGHGUY has consistent formlines to his name and had to be eased at the 1000M mark, came four wide into the home straight and lost a off-hind shoe when ending up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs, so that effort is best ignored. He jumps from draw five and should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

HIGH COURT raced three wide without cover and then came an even four wide into the home straight, but still managed to battle all the way down to the line, finishing third over nine furlongs, just under a length back from the winner. The gelding faces a wide draw eleven, but he should be doing his best work late.

KIRKEBY overraced in the middle stages and had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 900M mark and then come four wide into the home stretch when finishing fifth in his latest outing over 1500M, 2.8L adrift of the victor. He was also reported to have lost a near-hind shoe that day. He jumps from a handy draw four and should be right up there when they hit the line.

CHATEAUX PARK was slow away and bumped at the 150M pole, but still managed to finish second last time out over ten furlongs, 1.3L off the winner. He is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, ZELADY LUCK has produced two solid last runs over today’s journey, the latest when fourth, 1.3L behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. Jumping from gate five and with having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should produce another honest performance here.

ARRANMORE followed up her penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a second place finish next time out over the same c&d, just under a half length back from the winner. She came four wide into the home straight on that occasion before striking the front at the 100M mark, only to be run out of it late. She gets a useful gate two and should be considered a big runner here.

POWERFUL PEG has won two of her last four starts and finished second last time out over six furlongs, three and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but she had nothing go her way that day. She jumped awkwardly, had to be steadied off the heels of other runners shortly after the start, overraced in the middle stages, checked at the 800M pole and finally held up at the top of the home straight. She faces a wide draw nine, but on the plus side, she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

Race 7

KA BLING won his penultimate run over seven furlongs and then finished seventh next time out over seven furlongs, just under four and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but it should be noted that he was hampered at the 200M mark and then eased off the heels of other runners at the 100M pole, so should have finished closer to the winner than he officially did. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and from his cozy gate two, he looks to be the one to side with here.

JUPITUS also won his penultimate start, but in his case, over 1500M and then ended up in seventh place next time out when stepping up to nine furlongs, three and a half lengths behind the winner, but he was inconvenienced at the 200M mark that day. He will have to negotiate draw nine, but he should do better over what appears to be a more suitable trip.

THE BIG EASY on the other hand has cracked pole position and is seldom too far off the action, finishing seventh last time out over six furlongs, just over two and a half lengths back from the winner. He did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, only seeing daylight at the 250M mark, before finishing off his race well. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 20 week rest and will have the services of a 2kgs claiming apprentice.
