The match was delayed for an hour due to extra security measures as the US President Donald Trump attended this year’s US Open 2025.

Alcaraz began the match playing very strongly, hitting hard shots from the baseline and serving powerfully, which helped him win the first set easily.

Sinner fought back in the second set by changing his game and serving better, but Alcaraz took control again in the third set by playing with great energy and focus.
The fourth set was close, but Alcaraz stayed calm and served well when it mattered most to win the match.

In his post-match interview after the match, Alcaraz praised Sinner for being a great sportsman and added that he considers him family.

“I want to start with Jannik, it’s unbelievable what you’re doing the whole season, great level during every tournament that you’re playing… I’m seeing you more than my family.

“It’s great to share a court, to share the locker room, to share everything with you.

“I’m just really proud about the people I have around. Every achievement I’m having is because of you, thanks to you … this one is yours.”

This victory marks Alcaraz’s sixth Grand Slam title, making him the second youngest man, at just 22 years old, after Bjorn Borg to reach this milestone. With this win, he also dethroned Jannik Sinner, who had held the World No. 1 ranking for 65 weeks.
