The 23-year-old hopes the next coach she hires will stay with her for several years .

Raducanu recently split from Spanish coach Francisco Roig after her second-round defeat at the Australian Open. Roig had joined her team not long before the tournament, but the partnership did not last.

Since winning the US Open in 2021, Raducanu has worked with several coaches, and Roig became the ninth coach to leave her team during that period. The British tennis star has frequently expressed a desire for more stability with her coaching staff as she continues her development on the WTA Tour.

At the moment, Raducanu is working day-to-day with former British player Mark Petchey during the Indian Wells Open. Petchey, who once coached Andy Murray earlier in his career, is helping guide Raducanu through the tournament. She is also continuing to train closely with her hitting partner Alexis Canter.

Petchey cannot work with Raducanu full-time at the tournament because he is also scheduled to do commentary for Sky Sports at Indian Wells.

His broadcasting commitments were also the reason he could not work with Raducanu last year. Despite that, he will still support her during the event and offer guidance whenever possible.

Raducanu is scheduled to begin her 2026 Indian Wells campaign against Russia’s Anastasia Zakharova

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Raducanu revealed that Roig was actually the one who decided to end their partnership. She admitted that the decision affected her because she had hoped the partnership would last longer.

“After Australia, me and Francis were talking. We have a great relationship, we could have a really open and honest conversation.

“He ended up saying, ‘look, I don’t think this is going in the way we both want it to’ so he ended it really.

“In a way I think we had a few moments where we weren’t agreeing on a few things. Other than that we still maintain a great relationship and I’ve seen him here, it’s been great to a see a familiar, great face around.”
