The 23-year-old will be the British No. 1 for the first time at Wimbledon at the 2025 Championships — a title that will bring a new level of scrutiny and pressure.

Draper arrives at his home Grand Slam at a career-high ranking of world No. 4 having made outstanding strides over the last year.

The Brit will face Argentine Sebastian Baez in his opening match at Wimbledon, but his draw looks brutal thereafter.

He could meet Marin Cilic in the second round, Alexander Bublik in the third round, Jakub Mensik in the last 16 and Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals before a possible semi-final clash with Jannik Sinner.

Draper defeated Holger Rune 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 in an exhibition match at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic at the Hurlingham Club on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference at Hurlingham, Draper was asked if he believes he can beat anyone at Wimbledon.

“Yeah. I think when you’re younger, you look at the draws a little bit more and think, ‘Oh, he’s good’. At this level, everyone’s a great player and everyone can challenge people, even the best players in the world,” Draper explained.

“That’s my mindset: whoever I play against I have the utmost respect for. They’re in the draw for a reason, they’re going to be dangerous, they’re going to want to come out and swing against a guy who’s a home player and who’s highly ranked, and they’ve got nothing to lose.

“So I know whoever I play in the first round is gonna be an incredibly tough match, but I’ll be ready for that. Like I said, I respect everyone. I know everyone can play great, but so can I. So I take that into my matches.”

Draper also revealed he was feeling good physically after having struggled with tonsillitis during his campaign at the Queen’s Club Championships last week.

“Yeah, I mean, just been on antibiotics, got over it,” he said.

“I have been training. Had a couple of days off. Refreshed. I am not sure when [I will] start – Monday or Tuesday – but by then I will be feeling great. I

“Already feel so much better. Got my energy back, that’s for sure. Sometimes you don’t realise I guess how bad you were at the time.

“Definitely the last couple of days got my energy back. I am training much better. I feel fitter. I feel good and over that for sure.”
